I've lived Key West, FL for over 6 years. Its a very small, tropical island at the end of the road...literally. Every now&then I like to go to the mainland for a dose of reality. Traveling is not a luxury but a necessity in my life. I prefer my tent for lodging (which isn't always practical) & hotels can be expensive! I read a recent article in 'Conde Nast Traveler' about Airbnb & a friend here on the island is a host who has had many positive experiences w/ the network...so I'm here to check it out. I think I'm going to like it! I have a unique & fun job working on a passenger ferry that travels to the remote Dry Tortugas National Park, a tiny cluster of islands & a giant Civil War era fort 70miles away from Key West. I'm a lucky person to be able to call the Gulf of Mexico my office. When I'm not working on the water I enjoy an active lifestyle, especially cycling & yoga. Oh ya, & drinking wine. That's fun too. My next BIG adventure is in the Spring of 2014 when I plan to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. If I'm fortunate enough to meet you someday, I'll tell you more about the hiking plans :-).
