The Gortlusk Cottage was quaint and adorable. We arrived in the rain and cold and it took a bit of time to get the place warmed up (wood stove helped!) but we really enjoyed staying in a traditional Irish cottage. The town of Adara is quite enjoyable and we appreciated the close proximity to town without having to actually stay IN town. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would certainly come again, but maybe with a few more layers for warmth :) Barry was a great host and answered all questions prior to our arrival. We had an issue finding the key and he immediately rang to handle the situation. Hopefully we will be back.
Barry was very efficient with instructions and making sure we arrived ok. This is a delightful cottage. It was cold, but it was February so take warm clothes for the Donegal winter.
Secluded, cosy, tidy; a proper cottage with a very helpful owner, we really enjoyed our stay. Quiet enough to be off-the-grid, but close enough to little Glenties and Ardara for the craic and pint if needs be. Recommended.
We spent one night this cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone that
is looking for a relaxing getaway in the North West. The cottage is very spacious
and well renovated, while still feeling comfy and old world-y! Barry had left the scones
as promised and a stack of firewood (bring matches!). Its a great house to relax
in front of a warm fire in. The main bedroom is
large and cosy and the kitchen is excellently equipped as we found out when making
our breakfast. Nearby Ardara is 8eur in a local taxi, so its very handy to head in for pints and food.
All was as promised, and lovely sunshine meant that we could sit outside as the lane is very private.
The sign can be missed so keep your eyes peeled! Will definitely be going back, its a gem. Thanks Barry!
Nice and cosy home away from home and a good place to visit Donegal. We had excellent communications with Barry and he's very helpful in any circumstance. If you would like to get some quiet days and "off the grid" this is the place to go and we had a great stay.
We had a fantastic time at Gortlusk Cottage. It's a great place in a beautiful location. It's remote but easily accessible so perfect for a peaceful getaway. The cottage is close to Ardara and we had a great time there on our second night! Barry was a perfect host, the cottage was stocked with all the essentials (including fresh scones!). We were un disturbed for our whole stay, yet anytime we needed anything Barry was easily contactable and very helpful! It was our first time to use Airbnb and it was a complete success. Thanks a million for a great stay! I would highly recommend the Cottage.
Unfortunately Barry was not able to meet us when we arrived but the caretaker who lives upstairs greeted us and helped us with our bags. The location of the house is absolutely fantastic, a small trek up the hills but minutes away from the waterfront and beaches. There are several beaches in Cavtat, but we found our favorite around 10 minutes away from the house which had a lovely beach bar too. The house was well equipped in terms of furniture, kitchen utensils, beach mats and lots of guidebooks. There were two spacious bedrooms, one with a balcony and the other with an extra single bed. The open plan kitchen made cooking dinner lots of fun. There was also a lovely terrace (shown in the picture) where we enjoyed our breakfasts. I really recommend it for a group of friends looking for a relaxing and quiet holiday (which is what we had!). Cavtat is also a great location to be close to Dubrovnik but not in the busy and expensive touristy areas.
Gortlusk was a beautiful home away from home, pictures can't justify the cosy and homely feel of the place. Perfect location for anyone wanting to explore the scenic donegal countryside. Would definitely recommend a visit to this cottage. I will be back for sure!
The cottage was lovely and very peacful. The kitchen is brand new with all the facilities. The house is close to the town of Ardara( NAncy's pub!!!).
We spent a really good and it was an ideal escape.
Thank you Barry! Scones were delicious!
