I'm a fourth generation Canadian from Vancouver, a city in the rainforest at the foot of the mountains on Canada's west coast. I'm a nature lover and urban explorer. Although I usually travel for pleasure, I work in tourism (destination marketing), so travel plays a large role in my day to day life.
Whenever I travel, I love learning about the local history and culture, and usually I try to seek out the areas where the locals like to go, especially the book stores, the record shops, the cafes, bars, markets and restaurants. I'm the type of traveller who likes to soak up the atmosphere and spend the quality time getting to know a destination, rather than rush from point A to B, trying to tick off a list as quickly as possible.
When AirBnB launched, I thought it was the most brilliant thing in the world. What I love about AirBnB is that you get a chance to live and experience a city or town the way a local would. You get a home base to call your own in a neighbourhood that has a bit more local character. You get a glimpse into what it might like to live there. Plus, the people I've met along the way have been absolutely welcoming and wonderful. All in all, it's a pretty amazing travel community.
My next trip is to Asia: Bangkok, Siem Reap, and Shanghai.
