We are community ministers, organizers and parents active in politics. School age kids and lots of strong relationships in our neighborhood. We love music, talking story by the fire, and playing at the park.

Joseph made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. He gave us great recommendations for food during our stay and was also upbeat and friendly. The entire family is extremely kind and lovely. The neighbourhood is quiet but very close to everything you need if you have a car.
Joseph was very kind. He has a great family. His listing is cheap, so you get what you pay for.
Joseph's family was good. They were kind and friendly. Area was so beautiful too. But cleanliness was not enough.
A friend and I came to Portland to check out the city. Based off of our schedule, I've only gotten the chance to meet Joseph once, but he was very welcoming, friendly, and relatable! He has recommendations of places to check out in Portland. As said on his listing, he's very open to the extent on the availability of the amenities and meeting his family. I wish that we had the opportunity to meet his family, although we only stayed in the nighttime and left in the mornings.
On our first arrival, we came in the middle of the night due to unexpected distance and time from our route, and the lights were left on and we were able to come inside via a door code so they wouldn't have to wait for us to arrive, which is great. We had a constant communication before the trip, and we were able to update each other regarding our arrival.
Our first message from Joseph included more details about checking in and the available amenities. He also included his family's daily schedule to give us a glimpse of when they are home and definitely welcomed us to join them. On the other hand, he definitely will respect your privacy if you prefer it.
If I come back up to Portland (because it's was great to see, and I want to check out more of it), I would stay at Joseph's place again if I get the opportunity to meet his family the next time.
It was a good place to stay. Very welcoming, flexible, and accommodating.
Joseph and Aimee are friendly, outgoing, and interesting people- it was great to meet them.
We really enjoyed staying with Joseph and his family! They were very helpful and informative. Joseph made sure that everything was taken care of before we arrived and provided great directions. The house is in a very convenient location and the room was clean and cozy. Definitely a desirable and affordable option!
Joseph and his family were excellent hosts. They patiently handled all of our questions, and offered some great advice about the Portland area. We couldn't have been happier staying with them, loved the house, and really enjoyed the neighborhood. Having such a comfy home base definitely improved our experience in Portland, and we both would highly recommend staying with Joseph and his family!
Joseph and Aimee were wonderful hosts! Beautiful home, comfy bed, and in a desirable location in PDX--I rely on public transit and didn't have trouble getting around with two bus lines and the max just down the street. They made my first airbnb experience a positive one, I would absolutely recommend their home to anyone looking for lodging in Portland.
Our hosts welcomed us with thougtful hospitality, but the room seemed overpriced.
I loved my six-night stay with Joseph and Aimee. They are very wonderful and welcoming hosts, extending their hospitality beyond just a place to stay. They treated me and my daughter as guests of the family, at the same time giving us the privacy we needed. Both of them are very active community organizers and change-makers, and it was inspiring for me personally to get to know them. In terms of the house and locations logistics, it all worked great for us. When they write that there is not a whole lot around them to do, it might be true but public transportation (bus and tram) is really close, and I had a car. I5 is very close, so it is a piece of cake to get anywhere if you have a car. Location is very safe and quiet, with family houses all around. The house itself is beautiful, and the room we stayed in was great, with a closet and an extra heater which we needed once or twice this December. I would definitely recommend Joseph and Aimee's place to anyone looking for a great Portland stay!
Joseph and his colleagues were respectful guests and left every thing in good shape.
Joseph and his family stayed at our guesthouse for 3 days.
They are a very nice friendly family. Quiet and considerate people.
It was a real pleasure to host them and providing them a relaxing stay. Even when the weather was not so good, they always had a smile and it seemed they enjoyed it.
Joseph and his family have been friends of mine for over ten years. They are terrific people, friendly - community minded - and the best hosts I could ask for in PDx. I stayed with Joseph for a few weeks in 2001 and ended up moving to PDx for a year... Definitely knowledgable and well rooted in Portland you'll be in great hands i
n this beautiful space.
I've known Joseph for over a decade from doing community organizing. They welcomed me to their home when I moved back to Portland in 2011, and I can't imagine a better place to get settled in the city, meet people, and have stimulating conversations about politics and life.
