Siamo profondamente delusi e scontenti di questa esperienza e anche molto arrabbiati e vorremmo che altri non si trovassero nella stessa situazione.
Dopo la prenotazione ed il pagamento dell'intera quota abbiamo ricevuto le istruzioni da Maria Maria esclusivamente in spagnolo così come l'email di accompagnamento .Questo ci ha piuttosto sorpreso.
Abbiamo inviato indicazioni sul nostro arrivo a Madrid e fissato un appuntamento fra le 19 e le 20 del 19 aprile presso l'appartamento. Non abbiamo MAI ricevuto nessun tipo di feedback se non una laconica email poco prima della nostra partenza e solo dopo aver sollecitato Airbnb. Siamo quindi partiti senza avere la certezza che i nostri messaggi fossero stati letti e compresi.
Al nostro arrivo a Madrid ho cercato ripetutamente di mettermi in contatto telefonico con il proprietario senza MAI ricevere risposta.
Alle 18,30 eravamo di fronte alla porta d'ingresso dello stabile indicatoci.
Alle 20 non era ancora arrivato nessuno. Ho cercato di contattare Airbnb: i tempi di attesa superavano i 30 minuti.
Alle 20.15 mi sono messo alla ricerca di un albergo nei dintorni che potesse offrirci una sistemazione ( cosa assai improbabile per 4 persone - 2 bambini- alla vigilia di Pasqua in una città per noi sconosciuta).Nel frattempo un'incaricata della proprietà ( parlava solo spagnolo, lingua che io conosco poco ) è sopraggiunta dicendo di essere stata avvisata solo all'ultimo momento del nostro arrivo. Profondendosi di scuse per il disagio provocato ha richiesto - come da contratto - il pagamento della cauzione e delle pulizie in contanti confermando la restituzione alla nostra partenza. Non ha rilasciato nessuna ricevuta e al check out non si è presentata gabbandoci ulteriormente.
L'appartamento non è come dalle foto allegate al sito che risultano ingannevoli. Le stanze sono buie e la zona "giorno" necessita di luce artificiale costantemente. Una delle camere è poco più che un corridoio con 2 letti male illuminato. Gli elementi d'arredo sono di scarsa qualità, la pulizia appena sufficiente; le lenzuola lise, la doccia rotta ed il bagno era privo di carta igienica. Slo la locazione dell'appartamento corrisponde a quanto proposto nel (website hidden) sono recensioni pubblicate negli ultimi mesi relative ad appartamenti gestiti dalla stessa proprietà e diversi raccontano situazioni sovrapponibili alla nostra.
Abbiamo scelto Airbnb, per la prima volta, per la sua fama di eccellenza. Ritenete che abbiamo ricevuto un servizio adeguato alle aspettative?
Airbnb richiede una commissione a parte e non rimborsabile per il suo servizio: serve per elevare i suoi controlli di qualità?
Perchè nonostante i diversi feedback negativi Maria Maria continua a far parte del vostro circuito?
In attesa di un vostro sollecito riscontro sono certo che Airbnb - in qualità di mio referente nella transazione con la proprietà - si attiverà con i mezzi più idonei e nel più breve tempo possibile per la restituzione di quanto mi è dovuto.
El apartamento estaba hecho un desastre. No recomendaría nunca este apartamento excepto por su ubicación. La anfitriona nos hizo esperar una hora hasta que nos alojó. El apartamento no tenía calefacción y en su lugar nos dejaron una estufa mugrienta. Nos cobraron 55 euros en concepto de limpieza y todo estaba sucio: cristales, cubertería, ollas, basura. La ducha tenía moho y dudamos bastante sobre la higiene en las toallas y sábanas. Airbnb respondió muy bien ofreciéndonos otro apartamento al día siguiente de llegar allí. NO RECOMIENDO PARA NADA ESTE APARTAMENTO. Cuidado por qué la anfitriona se llamaba Charo y ahora se llama María. UNA VERGÜENZA
Dear all, we do not recommend rent this apartment, OUR EXPERIENCE IN CHARO’S APARTMENT WAS AWFUL!! Plus everything we say below, cleaning the apartment left a lot to be desired, with cockroaches in the kitchen. We rented this apartment for one night in the last minute, the same day in the morning. Once in the apartment the person delivering the keys said us that the apartment has a deposit of 200 euros plus a cost of 55 euros for cleaning (for one night). We were very surprised, however due to we did not know Madrid and we had not time to look another apartment, we paid the requested money in cash (we did not received an invoice or something similar justifying the deposit and the clean cost paid). We phoned later to Airbnb to ask about these conditions and they said us that all payments are processed online. Then, we phoned to Charo to ask about, and she said that she has sent us e-mail with her house rules where we could see the deposit and cleaning cost, details not specified on the website. In the e-mail she requested a bank account (additionally to that requested in Airbnb´s site) to return the deposit and included the possibility to return this money in hand for a price of 15 euros. Thus, we agreed with her to refund us the deposit in hand the next morning, but nobody appeared. We tried to phone to Charo several times and waited in the apartment all the morning unsuccessfully (we lost our holiday morning inlcuding the tickets to visit a museum). At the end, we did not get our money back in hand so after call to Airbnb we agreed that they would refund us the deposit's money by their website. Finally, as we did not get our money back, we gave to Charo our account number and she returned us the 200 euros.
I took my about a month to get my deposit of 200 euros back. I had to pay 50 euros for the cleaning and finally the apartment smelt like in a McDonalds. I'd rather not recommend this apartment. So far my worst experience on Airbnb.
I basically rented Charo’s apartment for two things: the good location and the huge furnished balcony it has. I was right about the location but not about the balcony which was empty and I would have preferred some advance warning of this at least before renting.
Everything began when we chose her apartment and we tried to make a reservation for the whole weekend for a total of 190€. We had no response after 24 hours and so it was automatically cancelled. After two days, I received a counter-offer from Charo for 230€. We were confused by this because she was asking for more than the advertised price but we were lazy and tired of looking for apartments so we made our first mistake: we accepted her offer.
We arrived at 22.30, one hour and a half after the scheduled check-in. We met Charo and she told us we had to pay 255€ (55€ for housekeeping, 50€ for being late and 150€ as a deposit).
We were suprised, but it was our mistake as it was part of her house rules written on the website. Although Charo is nice, she is the kind of person who when you try to talk about one thing, she replies about something completely different, you have to be aware of this when dealing with her.
Even though there were 4 of us, she only gave us one copy of the keys explaining to us that her lasts guests had lost the other set. We were not happy about this.
Actually, it could have been a nice staybecause the apartment has enough space, but everything was dirty when we arrived: the freezer had fungus, there was dust everywhere, the sheets were dirty… AND WE HAD TO PAY 55€ JUST FOR HOUSEKEEPING!!. We slept on top of the sheets with coats rather than inside them despite how cold the apartment was. The first night was horrible because of the this and the following day I called Charo twice with no response. The heating wason a very low setting and we couldn’t change it.
Sunday arrived and we had to leave the house at 11.00. Charo came at 12.00 and she was surprised to see us there. I explained to her that we were going to leave the house as soon as posible but that I wanted my deposit money back first. She told me that she had the credit card machine at hers and she was going to come back with it as she had forgotten it. She didn’t come back and it was not posible to contact her again. We left the apartment and I felt she was trying to trick us because of her surprising lack of profesionalism during the entire weekend.
In conclusion, if I had the chance of going to a wonderful city like Madrid and staying in this apartment or remaining bored in my house in Barcelona, I would prefer the second option.
MY EXPERIENCE IN CHARO’S APARTMENT WAS AWFUL!!
*********PLEASE READ!******** POR FAVOR LEA!******* (Escrito en Espanol tambien mas abajo) Following some of the reviews I had read prior to booking with Charo, I was a little nervous. However, I had a very ill relative in Spain and was organising a last minute trip and thought I'd take the risk. It did NOT pay off. Since my return Charo has ignorned all of my messages in which I have been chasing her up to return my deposit of 150 Euros. Nothing was broken/damaged during the 4 night stay and yet I am still waiting to have the deposit returned via bank transfer, (On the advert under 'house rules' she specified paying the deposit in cash on arrival, for it to be returned by bank transfer). This has not happened yet and with no explanation as to why our deposit would not be returned. The communication was awfully stressful. Right up until the taxi journey from the airport to the apartment, I was frantically trying to get hold of Charo to confirm the building number and flat number (as there was only one number given and knowing the area well, I know that there was another number needed as part of the address). I spent 1 hour trying to get answers from her. One hour later I revieve a confirmation email stating all the details and terms of the contact/stay. This was sent by another lady to my private email which was odd. I then find out that Charo had arranged for yet another lady (Dorina) to meet us there. Thankfully Dorina was pleasant and arrived on time, however the nightmare was in the lack of response from Charo right up untill arrival at the apartment. The apartment look as it does in the photos however several of the radiators were leaking on to the floor. The Fridge door was broken, one the lamps didn;t work, the shower head was completely cracked causing the water to fall in a heavy tap-like drip. I would sinerely NOT recommend that you book with Charo as she still hasn't had the courtesy to reply to any of my polite and very patient emails, which I have written to her in fluent Spanish as I am bilingual. I will also add that her correspondence in the first place was very dry and extremely brief. Finally I managed to get through to the lady (by phone) who sent me the confirmation email. She said she would carry out the refund for me and was polite and friendly. This gave me hope, however days late I am still waiting even though I emailed her directly after our phone call to re-send her my account details.. All very very disappointing - DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. I Read some bad reviews on here and still went against my gut feeling - that was a mistake. Charro was one of the worst landlords I have ever had to deal with in my life. She comes off as extremely accommodating on her Airbnb page but in all reality, she is the opposite of that. When we arrived at the particular apartment we were renting from her in Spain, she was no where to found. We waited outside the apartment building for 2 hours (even though we were supposed to meet her at 2 pm) until a random pregnant woman finally came out of the building and said "Oh, I have your keys and your contract, hold on." She led us away from the apartment building that we were suppose to be staying at and led us into a random basement apartment . The pregnant woman spoke no english. Charro was still nowhere to be found. The pregnant woman forced us to sign a contract and pay almost 1000 USD immediately or we were not allowed to stay. This was never agreed upon. We had no idea what contract we were signing because the entire thing was in spanish and nothing was discussed. We lived in that apartment for almost a month because Charro claimed that the other apartment "was not ready" (aka she double booked). OnWe did not meet her for at least a week from when we first arrived. She had one of her employees take all of our stuff, while we were not in the apartment, and shove it into suitcases. She forced us to move all of our things to the apartment (or so we thought) that we were renting, but it turned out to be another one and not the one we agreed upon. We were told that there would be internet in the apartment that we moved into but we did not get any internet connection for 6 and a half weeks after moving into the new apartment. She lied to us and said she was calling the company, but never called. A group of Asian students showed up at our front door at 11 pm night after they had just arrived in Spain and told us that they were supposed to be renting the apartment that we were living in. Charro tried to charge us for the water, electricity, etc in the random basement apartment when we were not even supposed to be there in the first place. She would show up at random without giving us any kind of notice. She accused us of breaking things in her apartment, but little did she know, those things were already broken and we had to live with no heat in the living room for 4 months. Also, the hot water in the apartment lasted for less than 10 minutes and she refused to fix that. She is a lying thief that tries to screw over all people, even the Spaniards (we saw it happen). Whatever you do, DO NOT RENT FROM HER. She will screw you over and take your money!!!!!!
Vaya por delante que mi experiencia con AIRBNB y sus usuarios propietarios de viviendas siempre ha sido estupenda (tanto en las que he sido yo el usuario que reserva como cuando he ido con algún amigo).
He utilizado el servicio en varias ciudades de varios paises y nunca, repito, NUNCA, he tenido ni el más mínimo problema. Hasta ahora.
Para empezar AIRBNB confirmó mi reserva, pero el contacto (Charo), decía no haber recibido la confirmación, de forma que no tuve reserva, a pesar de haberla pagado, hasta 1h y media antes de mi entrada (menos mal que llegaba a las 17h, si hubiera llegado antes habría sido un desastre).
Hablé con AIRBNB, una chica muy amable me explicó que sí se le había enviado la confirmación.
El caso es que esta gente son un complejo de apartamentos gestionados por una red bastante chapucera de "administradores", por llamarlos de alguna manera...Una suerte de Pepe Gotera y Otilio con americanas de cuadros y todo.
Cuando llegué, el apartamento no era lo que me esperaba ni de lejos. Era como el de las fotos del anuncio tras un tornado... Muy cutre. La casa de "CUÉNTAME" es un adalid de la modernidad en comparación con esta especie de albergue estudiantil venido a menos.
Para aderezar mi triunfal llegada a la capital del reino, me econtré la taza del baño rota, con un bamboleo de lo más inquietante y, por si fuera poco, sin papel higiénico. Tras solicitarlo, para mi estancia de 2 noches me proporcionaron 1 rollo, generosidad ante todo, que no falte de ná.
Tampoco debían contar con que mi higiene personal cumpla los mínimos europeos, puesto que 2 toallas semi-transparentes fue todo lo que me ofreció ese armario empotrado digno de la peor etapa del cine de Alfredo Landa.
Pero sigamos, porque no termina aquí mi aventura... con la idea de tener forma de comunicarme con mis seres queridos, por si tenía que mandarles un mail con mi epitafio, solicité la clave WiFi, que muy amablemente y tras hacerme bajar en 3 ocasiones a una oficina en la que no había nadie, a la cuarta vez y 2 horas más tarde, conseguí. No sin antes explicar al figura que está al cargo de este desastre varios detalles técnicos que me voy a ahorrar para no aburriros.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apartamento Estrella Gran Via. It was conveniently located near several metro stops and in a safe part of town. The plaza located at the corner of the street creates a lot of noise throughout the the evenings on the weekend, but is very much a part of the night time culture during the summer. The apartment was clean and Charo was quick to respond to questions and/or concerns. Please note there may be extra costs that may occur for utilizes for extended stays (this may have been in the fine print that I didn't notice). I would recommend this apartment to others in the future.
