I'm publicist for an independent book publishing company, a freelance writer and editor, and the author of the forthcoming NYC: Ten Lessons in Frugality & Faith (Or: how to live in Manhattan on $1,000 a month). I've lived in NYC since mid-2012; before that I was in Chicago from 1990-2012 after being raised in New Braunfels, Texas.
I like to be a traveler instead of a tourist. It's more important for me to do interesting and possible unusual things than it is to see tourist attractions (though, of course, when visiting Philadelphia I saw the Liberty Bell, and in Boston I saw historical sites as well).
Sometimes when I travel I bring one or both of my children (they live in Chicago, so when I visit Chicago one or both stay with me in the spaces I rent), but I often travel solo, too. I'm a huge fan of meeting new and interesting people but I'm also fine having my own space and keeping to myself.
