Hola! Somos Rafael y Marcela! Tus próximos anfitriones, vivimos en salta te esperamos muy pronto por aqui!
My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 6 weeks and used Salta as our base to explore the city and Salta province, as well as the neighboring provinces of Jujuy and Tucuman.
Marce and Rafa live next door and were very helpful. They handled any issues we had about the apartment and checked in periodically to see how we were getting along. For example, Marce let us know where to buy groceries and to find a lavanderia (laundry service). When the shower curtain tension rod broke, Rafa quickly found a replacement. In addition, since we were there for an extended visit, they let us use the services of the woman who cleans their apartment to also clean ours once a week for 80 Argentine pesos. Finally, an air conditioner was installed during our stay. Although the temperature in Salta is normally pleasant, the A/C will be useful during the occasional heat wave.
The apartment is well maintained and is located just a short distance from the main plaza of Salta. There are two supermarkets within walking distance, and several small shops nearby that sell water, pastries, bread, and other basic supplies. If you need to get your laundry done during your stay, as we did, there is a lavanderia just a few blocks down on Alvarado Street. There are also some good restaurants and cafes nearby. Our particular favorite was the Café del Tiempo on Paseo Guemes. We've reviewed several restaurants of Salta on Trip Advisor, so please check that website for more information.
The bedrooms are comfortable, but can be noisy at night because they are near a busy street and just above the front entrance door to the building that opens to allows cars to enter the parking area. We wore earplugs when we slept to block some of the ambient noise. The smaller bedroom has a ceiling fan that nicely circulates air.
The kitchen is sufficient for travelers. It has a full sized refrigerator and offers a hot plate for cooking. There is an adequate supply of plates, utensils, and cookware.
Travelers from the U.S. should be aware that the power supply in Argentina is 220 volts, so make sure that your electrical equipment can adjust the current for their use. The charging units we had for our computers handled the higher voltage without any problem. The bigger challenge is the shape of the electrical outlets. Like many places in Argentina, this apartment has two kinds of wall outlets, one that takes double cylindrical pins and another that accepts double slanted prongs. You should bring outlet adapters with you or else purchase them in Argentina at a ferreteria (hardware store).
In all, we enjoyed our stay in this apartment and would recommend it to anyone planning either a brief or extended visit to Salta.
Nice and big apartment in the city center with very nice and helpfull hosts. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay!
We had a very good time at Rafas & Marces place. Both were very helpful and were very responsive in case something happened or was wrong with the apartment. The latter was perfectly located right in the center of Salta. Most areas of interest we were able to reach by foot. Our kids loved the place, as it had a small patio to the inner side of the building, where the were able to play.
One bed room was a bit noisy facing towards one of the main roads. However, the other two were very quite, facing to the inner side of the building. The kitchen could be equipped a bit better, but for a short stay like ours (3 days) this was quite ok.
As we liked the place very much, we even came back a week after traveling through Salta province.
The reason why I stayed two weeks in an Airbnb apartment in Salta is pretty personal and, I have to admit, "unique", therfore my story about the whole "vacation" should sound a bit weird! But either in my own experience or globally expressing I must say that I have been so LUCKY staying at Rafa&Marce's place. Everything was so pleasant and confortable that seemed "tailored suited" on my needs and expectations. Every time I though about other people who could stay in the same apartment as tourists, singles, couples, families, etc. I realized this flat should fit with everybody's needs! It's large, bright, lot of space to put dresses, confortable bathroom, basic kitchen (but perfect when you are on holiday), moreover close to the center but not too much, therefore it is enough quite... And for EVERYTHING you should need, the host family lives next door and is always happy to help you! I recommend this place with all my heart!
This apartment is well located within easy walking distance of the centre of Salta, and Rafa and Marce were very welcoming. On our visit in August 2013 we were disappointed to find problems with the plumbing, gas and wiring, and some other things useful to travellers (such as sink plugs and soap) were missing. However our hosts were quick to rectify problems when we mentioned them, and I'm sure they will improve the provisions for future guests.
Response from Rafa Y Marce:
We are glad we were able to resolve the problems you encountered in the apartment. We will be more carefull next time so this doesn't happen again. We apologize again and it was a pleasure meeting you too.
Very Nice appartment in the centre of Salta just four blocks away from the Plaza Mayor. Rafa and Marce are living just opposite the appartment and were always around and available for help and requests. Salta is An excellent starting point for discovering the amazing and surprising surroundings.
The apartment is spacious, clean, and very well located, a few blocks from the Plaza 9 de Julio. Rafa and Marce are wonderful, helpful hosts. As English-speaking guests with lousy Spanish skills we had a few moments in which we needed to resort either to (website hidden) Translate, or to Marce's very helpful sister Monica. Both were very helpful. Salta is a really fascinating city with great cultural and geographical features. Traffic can be intense in the early morning and into the evening on weekdays, so if you are sensitive, earplugs could be a wise investment.
Marce y su familia are very nice. I absolutely recomend them as guests to anyone. The respect the neighboors and they left the flat in good conditions as they found it. They were very understanding and very easy to communicate with them. They were very helpful with me and gave me some suggestions to make better welcome to my guests. Thanks a million for your help.
Those appartments were my home when i was young, the location its perfect, just in the center of the city, close to all you need! Calm and silent and REALY BIG!!
And off course Marce and Rafa will be the best hosts!
Hope everyone enjoy the Beautiful SALTA!!!
