I couldn't have asked for a more special hostess or home in Oaxaca. Olga is kind and lovely to chat to. Sometimes she left me delicious snacks and soups and the day I left she woke at 5am to see me off!
I was sad to say goodbye but hope to return for another visit to a great house, host and city. Thank you Olga and Silvia!
Very nice place, close to the city center. The host is very friendly and flexible and helped us out a lot. I would highly recommend it.
My group of 4 had a wonderful time at this charming apartment. While Silvia wasn't there during my visit, she was reliable and great at keeping in touch. Olga was so kind, welcoming us with delicious mangos and bananas upon our arrival. We got the second floor to ourselves, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The apartment is in an excellent part of Oaxaca- definitely recommended!
Olga, Silvia, Gerardo, and Augustin were incredible hosts and we were so grateful for the hospitality. The house was in a very convenient location, perfect for exploring Oaxaca, and we were quite surprised that Augustin and Silvia were there to pick us up at the airport. Olga was quite gracious, and supplied us with all the comforts of home. A most excellent experience that I would be happy to repeat. Thank you again.
Best travel experience ever. Host family was warm and welcoming in an endearing way. Accommodations were super clean and spacious. Had full use of kitchen , living area and fridge. Wi-Fi and lap top use were a plus. Location was perfect and only four blocks from the
central happening area . Residence offers complete security . Family offered many brochures and suggestions on the most interesting places to visit , including area artisan towns and workshops . Family was nice to pick me up at the airport , an appreciated relief after a long flight . The city is easily walkable and safe , following a grid map.
Must see the zocalo area and the indoor grand markets , as well as the myriad little shops and cafes . Many local hotels offer guided bilingual tours which you can sign on to . Some tours are half day and others full day , all in comfortable A/C vans . There are plenty of opportunities to purchase bottled water , refreshments , food and souvenirs . If you can , you have to take a cooking class with a local chef who takes the group to the local market for provision shopping .
You'll love Oaxaca and its' people and you'll love staying here with this family !
This is a lovely, lovely place, very centrally located, and the hosts are very helpful and gracious. We had comfortable bedrooms, access to the kitchen, as well as wonderful coffee from the family finca. Would love to stay here again.
A great airbnb experience! The house itself had an ideal, central location for exploring Oaxaca, and was clean and comfortable to stay in. Because of its central location, it's also an easy place to come and go from if you need/feel like it. The highlight of staying here is the family which owns the space, who are incredibly kind, generous, and helpful, and went out of their way to help us a number of times. A great experience!
You couldn't find a better place to stay. Perfect location for everything: zocolo, small vans to all the villages, taxi collectivos, etc. The family is wonderful, my 6 1/2 year old couldn't wait to get back to the house to spend time with all of them. Fortunately Silvia & Patrick were there for our last 2 weeks. If you speak Spanish that will be very helpful and make the experience much more rewarding.
This was an excellent choice for our stay in Oaxaca City. Great location and a very comfortable stay that made us feel at home. Beautiful patio upstairs and the coffee was a treat in the mornings (and many late afternoons). Easy to walk to the city's many sights, restaurants and shops. Olga and Silvia's parents were tremendous hosts and very sweet and helpful. Overall, a tremendous value and a memorable visit.
It was great having Sylvia as a guest. Low maintenance and flexible.
Silvia has been my friend and colleague for the past 2 years. She is a very reliable person and eager to please so I am sure if you are renting from her you can rest assure. She is a native Oaxacan and LOVES her country. She has has traveled extensively throughout North America, Africa, and Europe as well as living abroad so I think she has a good perspective on what tourists want to do, see, and what makes them feel comfortable. She has GREAT taste in fashion, and jewelry and can tell you about the best places to shop until you drop(I plan on taking her advice Summer 2013). Geez she is fantastic, what more can I say but book this apartment you won't regret it!
Maison très bien située en plein centre de Oaxaca. Décoration typiquement Mexicaine, tout confort. La famille de la propriétaire vit à côté de la maison et est toujours à l'écoute du moindre besoin.
Great lace to stay in the center of Oaxaca !
Silvia is a native of the city, trilingual (Spanish, English, and French), and very knowledgeable about the area. Having worked in hostels, hotels, and the best cooking school in the city she can give tips on just about anything. Always quick to answer questions and eager to make your stay enjoyable, Silvia is an invaluable resource to have when planning your trip.
Olga, who lives on the bottom floor, is Silvia's aunt and one of the sweetest women the world has ever known! She is nonintrusive but always around if you need help or advice with the house or city, and great to talk to for a local perspective on any topic. The rest of Silvia's family (parents and brother) are also just around the corner in another house (same compound) and they are all extremely warm and open people.
