Kate was super friendly and welcoming, really easy to communicate with her. The Place offered a lot of privacy, it was clean and comfortable.
Kate is cool and the room is comfy, quiet and conveniently located.
Kind and hospitable hostess, plenty of space, located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood
We had a fine time in the private, quiet room with kitchenette provided for us with a private bathroom and shower. Our hostess was friendly and happy to accommodate all of our needs including information about local amenities, transportation and directions. The location was perfect and an easy walk to the beautiful arboretum and Japanese gardens. If we are ever back in the area we would not hesitate to stay there again.
Kate's place was just what I needed for my week in Seattle. I had a busy schedule and was mostly looking for a place to come home to each night. The bed was comfy, good water pressure in the shower, the price was reasonable and the location was easily accessible by bus. Kate was friendly and accommodating - I'd highly recommend her as a host!
Kate's MIL was very cozy and comfortable, the bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the sheets and the plush towels as well. The unit was very clean and very cute, perfect for what we needed. Kate was great! She invited us to breakfast and although we ended up going out for brunch instead the invite was very much appreciated. I would definitely stay with Kate while visiting Seattle again. Oh and the neighborhood was nice and safe, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but yet very close to everything.
Kate is a gracious and attentive hostess and the location is convenient for U District and anywhere you may want to go in North Seattle (and just a hop on the 520 to Bellevue). Coco is the most calming dog you could ever have meet you when you return.
It is a basement suite but Kate keeps things generally quiet. She also thoughtfully provides shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and fluffy towels. Much appreciated! I'll look forward to staying with Kate again soon!
Kate was really helpful, her place was exactly as-advertised, and very well-located. I recommend it highly!
There are two parts to this story, the Kate part, and the apartment part.
The Kate part:
Kate is great. She was kind, and outgoing. Her pets are great (three cats and a huge dog). We had a really fun time chatting with her in the back yard and she was readily available and easy to communicate with. She brought us a nice pot of coffee one of the mornings - which was a plus.
The apartment part:
We traveled from Boston to Seattle, and with some delays, it ended up taking us about 12hrs to do so. I was very much looking forward to not having to worry about anything - having, essentially, a hotel experience when we arrived (since we had canceled reservations at a nice downtown hotel to save a few bucks and try out airbnb). Kate's apartment was a little ways out of town, but in a very desirable and amazing neighborhood right next to the arboretum. When we arrived the apartment was not in as good of shape as we would have hoped - it was obvious that the professional cleaners had not come through, and the air in the apartment was musty and stale, like a basement. We decided to give Kate the benefit of the doubt, and so I sent her a text telling her about the conditions and we went for a walk around the neighborhood. When we came back Kate had taken care of cleaning up the apartment - which we appreciated very much - but after traveling for so long and just wanting a place to lay down, it was frustrating not having the place in the expected condition. The rest of our stay was lacking further disappointments. As a baseline, we popped into our friend's airbnb pad that he was renting during the same weekend (for $25 more a night) and it was a very well-kept modern apartment that was squeaky clean and was one block off of the Lake Union shore with a deck which looked out on the lake, city, and mountains. We were a little jealous. Bottom line - if you are looking for a sterile/lush hotel experience with lots of natural light and complimentary soaps, look elsewhere. If you are willing to make a few sacrifices to stay in a great area for short money - Kate's place is for you.
It was a pleasure to meet Kate and her boyfriend. I found them to be easy to communicate with, certainly respectful of their use of the space and overall friendly people. I happily recommend them to any other host they choose to stay with.
When I'm heading to Seattle, I look forward to staying at Kate's every bit as much as I look forward to the city's many other charms! The little apartment has a separate entrance onto a patio area that's great for relaxing and cat-and-dog-watching, and has a nice little kitchenette. Kate is a wonderful host whose knowledge of the city has introduced me to some great new places. The house is located just down the hill from walking and biking trails that wind through a rather impressive forest, and only a few blocks from bus lines that can take you downtown or over to the U-District in a matter of minutes. It's a real gem!
