What an amazing stay! Emily and tanner went above and beyond what hosts should do. They had everything ready for us and allowed us to have an early check in. They even brought in an extra bed last minute for two friends that ended up staying with us. We absolutely loved it.
2 English Adults travelling thru' Southwest
we decided to stay in central phoenix rather than a Scottsdale resort or house as we usually do in arizona ,as we were travelling without our children(yeah!) and didnt want to hire a car, just walk or use buses/taxis.
Emily's house was perfect for this.Very clean, very tidy, great back garden, everything we needed for our 4 day stay.
Location was excellent, supermarket acoss the road, and several top restaurants very close.
The Tuck shop was very good, though we got into a routine of happy hour cocktails and starters @ Tuck shop, followed by a main course at the BBQ restaurant next door!
We also would recommend the WY-NOT cafe on Sheridan for breakfast, the omelettes were superb.
The house is within walking distance of most of phoenix, and buses pass closeby.
if you want something a little out of the ordinary,we would recomment Emily's house.
(website hidden) shave in town can be had at the Barber Parlor on W.McDowell road,a great experience.
What a dollhouse! From the exterior to the interior there is no design element left undone. It really did feel like home - complete with a lack of storage space.
Let me first say that my next comment is completely on me…The headline for the property said “Designer’s Own Home” and I did not realize that it was her primary residence. (Meaning while we rented it, she and her family left for the week.) This created a few hiccups…
We contracted to stay for a week we were surprised to find no closet and/or drawer space which meant everything (6 days worth of work clothes plus casual evening clothes) had to stay in a suitcases. Because the rooms were designer-perfect, this also meant no room to actually open suitcases forcing us to rearrange furniture, etc.
In our travel party were my husband, our adult daughter and myself. They are both vegans and prepare most of their meals at home which is why renting a house seemed like a good idea. I did mention this in advance to the host. We were surprised to find both the fridge and freezer completely full with nowhere for us to place our groceries.
Some other things we missed having were a full-length mirror and adequate bathroom lighting.
The location was convenient to what we needed – 3 minutes to Starbucks and 5 more to the downtown convention center. I would highly recommend this property for a weekend stay where you travel with just a small bag and for a couple looking to relax in a suburban home-like setting. The walls are thin (you hear every footstep) and there is no privacy between the rooms and the bathroom so be sure your traveling with people you are “comfortable” around.
Overall, we give the property a 4 and now know to ask clarifying questions in advance.
The house was nice, but it is rather cramped, and there is no space in any closet or drawers to organize clothing, so you end up with your suitcase on the floor, which further limits space. The backyard area is spacious and generally pleasant, but it was left littered with dog excrement when we arrived. There is a fire pit, but no firewood is provided, and we were unable to track down a source for firewood.
The location is great with a couple of good restaurants and a convenience store a few doors down, and many other restaurants and bars a few blocks away. Also, the location is centrally located, providing easy access to both downtown Phoenix and Scottsdale.
Emily has done a fantastic job with this house. You felt it's warm embrace from the moment you walked in the front door. We felt so comfortable, like we were staying a few days at a friend's house while they were out of town. The location is great. Very easy to explore Phoenix and Scottsdale from this location. A great neighborhood with lots of charm. If you want a calm, beautifully designed place to call home in between excursions on your travels this is it.
Loved this house! I want Emily to decorate my house! Perfect locaton...minutes from downtown. The backyard is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Agree with a previous post about the lack of wine glasses. Highly recommended. Perfect getaway house for a couple.
Adorable! The house is well maintained and in a great location!
Emily was very nice and responded in a timely manner. The home itself was lovely with great decor. One of the beds felt old as you were a taco in the bed. If you have back issues this would be a problem. There were things missing that we felt could have made our stay much more enjoyable. Some of those things are a coffee maker, wine glasses etc. Over all it was a nice stay.
This place is absolutely fantastic. More beautiful than I could have imagined. It is wonderfully decorated, comfortable and welcoming. Emily was very quick to respond to all of our questions over the course of our visit, and we really can't say enough about the experience of coming home to this place each night. My wife and I were so excited that we even had the rest of our travel companions over to tour the place. They all agreed it was an excellent deal, and a place they would consider looking into if/when they return to Phoenix. My wife and I fall into the same category. If we ever come back, we'll try for this place before even considering other options.
For anyone interested in food and drink, Emily's house is close to no fewer than four wonderful establishments. Particularly exceptional were Astor House for brunch, Tuck Shop for supper and cocktails and The Main Ingredient for happy hour specials and lunch fare. All reasonably priced, all delicious!
The BBQ works, for those looking to save some money, the patio area in the back was very relaxing, and the Coronado neighbourhood provides a very unique surrounding area.
What can I say....the place rocks.
This place is amazing! It's beautifully decorated, is close to a variety of different places to eat and was only a 20 minute drive to the park and theater we planned to visit.
Emily was a great host and was very quick to respond to text messages.
I would highly recommend this place for 1-4 people.
