Michelle made sure we felt right at home as soon as we arrived, and let us know we could come to her with any issues. She had coffee, coffee cake, tea and fruit out for our stay, and lots of clean linens.
Make sure you know your travel companion well, as you can easily hear what goes on in the bathroom (not a problem for us)--or you can simply sit outside in the lovely backyard under the avocado trees.
There is no TV, so you might want to bring a laptop. Also, although the description says there is a washer and dryer, it is not actually in the cottage (it's in the house), although I'm sure you'd be welcome to use it if you asked.
If you are very allergic to animals, take note that there are 2 dogs that live in the house and roam about outside, and an adorable cat who occasionally makes an appearance outside. Would definitely stay here again!
Michelle's guest house was alright. The space was nice, and location was great; but there's some serious pest issues with moths, flies, and spiders all over the place. The shower in particular had a lot of them. I also agree with what another person posted below, that for a "cleaning fee" you'd expect that the cobwebs at least be taken care of.
It was really nice of her to leave out bread, cheese, and fruit for us when we arrived. Lots of great amenities like a coffee maker (with fresh cream stocked in the fridge!) Michelle's hospitality here was unparalleled.
The outdoor area of the guesthouse has a lot of potential too, but it was littered with rotting fruit (from the nearby trees) and the occasional animal poop.
Michelle was a good host and made us feel very welcome, with nice attentions (laundry, Wifi, shampoo and conditionner, fruits, cream for coffee in the fridge, tea...)
Location of the house is good to visit Hollywood, Griffith etc... Free parking on the street.
However, two issues didn't make our stay as comfortable as we'd hoped: I'm 5'9 and didn't fit properly in the bed, we didn't expect to see so many spiderwebs in the house (especially when you pay a 25usd cleaning fee).
Guest house was very nice, we appreciated beeing nested in a garden in the center of LA, would be great without all those spiderwebs (easily removable though...)
Michelle was the perfect host! She was so welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. She even provided us with some cake and fruit and basics. The guest house was clean and comfortable and was a little haven away from the crazyness of LA whilst still being in the heart of everything. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone and would certainly stay there again! Michelle we thank you!
Michelle was great - a beautiful little bungalow! She even collected an urgent package I needed shipped there. Highly recommended.
I went to Los Angeles for two weeks and stayed in Michelles guestroom. It was just great! I was traveling alone and felt a little lonely in the beginning, but Michelle gave me the feeling of being home! We had great conversations and a lot of laughs and fun :) Her dogs are lovely! I would love to come again and hope we will stay in contact!
My stay at Michelle's guest house was perfect. The place is spacious and comfortable and peaceful. Michelle provided good coffee and yummy fruit and cake, so I did not have to think about breakfast. I would stay there again.
Michelle was a wonderful host. She made my boyfriend, myself and our dog (who is like our child!) feel right at home. Our trip to LA could have been incredibly stressful as we were there both for business and to search for an apartment. Instead, coming back to Michelle's guest house every evening was a welcome respite from the intensity of LA. I highly recommend Michelle and her guest house.
Quiet and quaint. Great location, easy access to everything Hollywood has to offer. Only negative is bed a little small if you're tall. Would definitely stay there again though.
This place was cute and our stay was mostly pretty positive. Michelle is very nice and was accommodating. It was nice of her to leave some fruit and snacks and coffee around the place, and it's good that there's access to a w/d and it has a kitchen. Wireless internet also a plus.
A few things that you wouldn't know from the other reviews. First, the place wasn't very clean- the floors were rather dirty and there was a decent amount of hair on the shower floor. Second, the shower itself was only about 5' off the ground, which is fine if you are very short but makes showering a serious challenge for someone of average height. Third, there is very little privacy of the bathroom (you can hear everything throughout the house), which is a consideration if you're sharing the place with someone else. Lastly, the place doesn't get a lot of light and has a musty smell (to be sure, for us this added a certain amount of charm). This also wasn't much of an issue since we were out so much and the place is in a very convenient location.
Parking worked pretty well on the street, but two of the three nights of our stay we had to park on the next block over since there was nothing available on Martel.
