Jacqueline has created a beautiful oasis, right in the heart of Foix. She is a welcoming and thoughtful host, greeting us with chilled water on a hot June day, and ensuring the room was as cool as possible for us. We enjoyed talking to her and Patrick over breakfast, and were very grateful with the trouble they took to plot out the most scenic route to our next destination. The room is a recently converted "grenier", full of charm and decorated with artistic flair.
The bed was very comfortable, with quality linen. There is also a small sitting area with a view over the attractive courtyard garden. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, as well as lots of books, magazines about the surrounding area and some sweet treats!
Reasonably priced day-time parking (free overnight) was available nearby. Highly recommended, wish we could have stayed longer.
Très bon accueil, petit déjeuner copieux et chaleureux. Grande chambre avec beaucoup de charme, maison donnant sur un jardinet fleuri. dans le quartier des petites rues piétonnes.
Our artist host was delightful, coming to the center of town to guide us to a parking area closer to the apartment and we enjoyed chatting with her at breakfast as well. The room was large and attractive with en suite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The unit is located in a separate building from the main house, upstairs with windows opening on to a lovely garden with roses and other flowers at this time of year.
Jacqueline is a charming hostess. She met me at Foix station although I had not asked her, and took me to her home. This is an old house, full of character and with a charming secluded garden, nestling at the foot of the rock on which Foix Chateau is perched. The room was tastefully decorated making good use of the natural stone of the building. Jacqueline is clearly a very talented artist and many of her paintings are on the walls of the room. There are lots of personal touches - I loved the monogrammed pillow-cases. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was copious with home-made jams and fruit. The house is in the centre of the town, but quiet and conveniently located next to some good restaurants. I would certainly stay there again.
