Hi! We are Marina and Chihiro and we just started hosting on AirBnB from this past March 2013. We are loving this site and meeting all our amazing guests! :)
Side note: for August, we are offering opportunities to sublet any of our rooms for up to a month OR the whole condo during the month of August!! ( see https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1118051 )
Both of us grew up in Boston, Massachusetts but I am originally from Odessa, Ukraine and Chihiro is from Nagano, Japan.
I studied abroad in Osaka as a senior in college, got into hip hop dance there, and upon returning home, met Chihiro at a pop and lock class in Cambridge. We`ve been together ever since : )
I am the founder of Marina`s Kokoro and run an online health coaching biz. I specialize in digestive health and detox -- ask about my signature cleanse. It is LIFE CHANGING and I will be releasing the summer one soon!
I am really active on our (website hidden) page so you check us out there by searching for Marina`s Kokoro.
Chihiro works for a Japanese company so his hours are very long ( 830 am -830 pm), so he is not around too often, but you will probably run into him the mornings and weekends.
I love teaching smoothie classes, blending things in my vitamix, and everything to do with vegetables. They are my most favorite food. A fun fact about me is that I once walked across Northern Spain ( The Camino de Santiago ) for 31 days. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
About Marina`s Kokoro:
What started off as an aspiring holistic minded wellness center, is slowly metamorphosis-ing into a holistic minded AirBnB cozy retreat spot for travelers.
My passion for natural health and travel will always be strong, so I am enjoying seeing how I can merge the 2 together :)
Although under construction, Marina`s Kokoro does have a (website hidden) page and a website.
Please like us on (website hidden) and check out our website for plant based recipes and health (website hidden)

Story behind Marina`s Kokoro and my holistic journey:
I spent most of my college years hopping from country to country studying how people ate, observing their food habits, and walking in and out of supermarkets.
---(Off an On for 3 years, I lived in Spain and Japan and traveled Europe and South East Asia)-
I loved playing with new ingredients in my various kitchens and devoured natural health and cooking books for pleasure.
My inspiration was trying to end an uncomfortable and emotionally abusive relationship with food that started out as borderline anorexia in high school and turned into emotional overeating in college.
Instead of sitting at home, feeling miserable, and growing fatter, I went outside of my comfort zone and embraced my issues in a fun way. Travel and Research.
Eventually all this led me to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I learned that each body is unique and there inst a cookie cutter answer to losing weight. Weight loss is largely emotional and has little to do with discipline.
Its less about deprivation and more about adding in good things. Both nutritionally and emotionally. Its also about crowding out the toxic people, energies, and of course foods in your life.
Fast forward a couple years.
After coaching clients privately for about a year, I was given an amazing opportunity to open my own private wellness center. This was something I had been envisioning since 2008.
It manifested in the summer of 2012.
Today I am facilitating events where other natural health and fitness focused instructors can share their gifts and talents at Marina`s Kokoro.
( We just opened, so its not running at full speed yet).
I also teach plant based cooking classes, as well as lead group detox programs ( at MK and virtually).
As of March 2013, we are primarily hosting women travelers and couples who wish to experience a relaxing and comfortable stay in Tokyo.
