We loved everything about staying here. Arrival was very easy. Lauren came to greet us and tell us where to park. We always had a parking spot when we came back at the end of the day. We loved Lauren's cafe (even though we only got to visit once)! The neighborhood is great. We loved the location. It's not too far from anything. There are a lot of great places to eat in the neighborhood as well! The apartment gets cold, but Lauren has provided space heaters that kept us toasty all night! Lauren adds personal touches from leaving a jug of water for you to hangers for your clothes! We really enjoyed our stay and would suggest staying here to anyone!
We had a great 5-night stay in New Orleans thanks to Lauren's awesome apartment. Everything is as pictured -- clean, cool, and modern -- with great little finishing touches in the light and fabric selections. The location is on a quiet street and it is about a 12 min walk to the heart of Bywater or a 15 min bus ride to the French Quarter. Lauren was really nice and welcoming, and had great communication. We also tried the coffee and pastries at her adjoining cafe, which were also fantastic. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to returning to NOLA!
The absolute quintessential By Water NOLA experience for espresso lovers. When looking for a place in the neighborhood I couldn't have scored a better host or accommodations. My planning was last second and Lauren took great care of me. She was great with communication and stayed in touch through out my stay.
If you are looking for a low-key local's experience then this is a great place for you. Really enjoyed riding a bike through out the neighborhood and enjoying the restaurants in the immediate area.
A true diamond in the rough.
Lauren is a consummate host, even taking the time to make sure the space heaters were on before our arrival on a cold evening. The space is perfect for an extended stay, or even just a lark in New Orleans. Our stay was five days-waking up to have coffee in the espresso bar next door and then taking our bikes through the bywater to Jackson square or to Bacchanal for a bottle of well traveled wine. If you are looking to enjoy the people and culture of New Orleans at your own pace, allow Lauren to deftly perform a panther coffee pour over while recommending a new nook of the city for you to explore.
The absolute BEST location if you want to see the real New Orleans as well as enjoy the fun in the French Quarter. The perfect location for those that like to utilize public bus systems , walking, and even biking! ( cheap, easy, close bus stops - routes 88 and 5). We walked into the French Quarter it was so close (about 2 miles). The room and adjoining bathroom and kitchen were great. Everything was clean, working, and thoughtfully curated. Bathroom has a magnificent clawfoot tub and there was plenty of hot water- bonus! Huge closets in bedroom as well as a courtesy laptop - so don't bother dragging your electronics to New Orleans - she's got you covered. Coffee shop downstairs had the BEST cup of coffee in New Orleans, hands down. Everything felt exceptionally spacious - we had more than enough room. We did not see our hosts much because we were out and about most of the time , but when we did they were friendly, happy, and easy to talk to. Communication both before the trip and during was super easy. The next time we come back to New Orleans we are definitely going to check here first to see if they have availability. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.
An inspirational space in a fascinating part of nola. Lauren and Skillet have done an amazing job of the restoration of the house and the guest room is full of great art and imaginative touches. The espresso from Solo downstairs is hard to beat, the neighbourhood full of cool places to visit, and Shinobi, the resident dog, is ace.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great spot and really nice people. Mutual respect for space and set up nicely. A bit far from the action but what I spent on cabs and the room still kept me under what I would it would have cost to just stay in the Quarter...and I prefer the quiet.
It was so nice to wake up to coffee in the morning from the small espresso shop downstairs. A dog smooch and an espresso is a great way to start the day. I hope to stay longer next time I'm down South. If you are easy going and just need a place to crash for a couple nights this is the spot. HUGE kitchen that I regrettably didn't have time to utilize.
See you next time! Thanks.
Lauren was a great host. I was late getting in to New Orleans and she was accommodating to that. The room is very spacious and vintage feeling. The bathroom is large (no mirror) but you can use the reverse camera on your phone to get ready.
It was an easy and quick drive to historic New Orleans. It was a quick trip and everything went smoothly! Thanks, Lauren!
Lauren and Skillet keep a great home. We had a fun and interesting time while staying there and couldn't have asked for better hosts. While open and offering help/suggestions, we were left to our own devices and able to use our room, bathroom, and their kitchen/dining area with no questions asked. Aside from this, the house is a beautiful refurb and what's more, it is CLEAN and only a $12 cab ride from the bus/train station. Oh, yes, if you want a kick-ass cup of coffee, tea, whatever your poison, this place will be even better.
Lauren was a very easy guest. She was extremely laid back and easy to communicate with. My apartment was respected and I would welcome her back.
Lauren is a nice and educate, and I found interesting to talk with but becouse they were most of the time going out to visit other places we could spend enougth time to talk has I wish. She was easy going, considerate and respectful. She is welcome back to us
