A roomy, inexpensive place to stay in the heart of Peniche. Tina was very helpful with suggestions of things to see, and also set us up with excellent surf instructors for our son, Nuno and Edgar, two of the nicest people you'll ever meet ((website hidden)).
Our only major complaints were that the refrigerator had a big puddle of water in it - it had been turned off, presumably the frost in the freezer had melted an made the puddle - and that the second bed, a pull-out sofa, was very uncomfortable. Our son took the mattress and put it on the floor, which was a bit better, but the mattress was so thin, this still wasn't very comfortable.
I think the apartment may not have been for rent very long - lots of little things one would like to find weren't there (no corkscrew!). We have communicated the things we noticed to Tina, presumably those things will be added.
Check out Tasca do Joel, down on the water, if you need wine - nice people and a nice selection of good Portuguese wines.
We had a wonderful stay in Peniche. Tina was very helpful and the flat was great!
Nice place - close to beach and safe neighbourhood. No complaints. Close to the beach but it is not a surf beach (nice beach all the same)
Tina's house is very authentic and spacious, and also has a very nice backyard with a BBQ (which is not visible on the pictures). It feels like you have arrived in Portugal like it was fifty years ago. Tina was very sympathetic and sweet; she left some brochures about the surroundings and a bottle of red wine. However, my expectations did not meet reality; unlike the advertisements implies, the house is not on the beach. It takes a 20 minute walk to get to a nice beach and 15 minutes to get to the city center.
Peniche is a quiet fishermen village, without much to do. When I was there, the weather was very disappointing, so I would recommend to check the weather forecast before heading to this part of Portugal. For nice beaches it is best to drive to Baleal, a small surfer's village up north.
Gorgeous location nestled in a small cove surrounded by rock formations. Basic bungalo with charcoal barbeque and 4-burner gas stove. Great instant-hot water heater so everyone gets a hot shower.
