We overlook the shores of Lough Cutra, our very own private lake. Just a short distance from Galway City and conveniently located to Shannon International Airport.
Its an amazing place! We spend a day to do seightseeing in the castles surrounding:) I hope to come back some day. Carrie was very, very nice, funny and helpful.
We absolutely loved staying at Cormorant Cottage ! The setting is perfectly gorgeous. We felt like special guests from the moment we arrived. The cottage has a charming rural appeal. We were greeted and made to feel at home immediately. Everyone was so helpful and sincerely devoted to insuring that we had a wonderful stay. We definitely want to come back !
The house was perfect in a perfect domain. The House was very cost and comfortable, with everything we needed. There were two ladies responsible for the house and they were extremely helpful as well as the owner. When we arrived, there were everything we needed, fruit, eggs, butter, tea... Each time we drove until the main gate we could see deer, pheasants... I sincerely hope to return to Lough Cutra! Sofia
The host was very welcoming. We spoke to Carrie initially who told us what to expect, gave us directions and then she handed us over to Gordon who waited up for our late check in at 9pm. Gordon was always very gracious and helpful with any queries or issues. His doggies made us feel like we were at home.
The property was everything we expected and more. The grounds are very beautiful and immaculately kept. If you enjoy walking or jogging, this is the perfect environment. The horses and donkeys in the fields were an added attraction. The fireplace was well stocked with wood and there were heaters in every room. All of our travel mates said that had a comfortable sleep and felt "at home".
The hosts had a welcome pack of fruit milk, coffee, cookies and orange juice to start us off. This was very much appreciated after a very long drive from Dublin. Although Lough Cutra is 40 minutes out of Galway it is well worth the drive. It is an easy drive to Connemara, Cliffs of Moher, the Burren etc - much of the spectacular Irish landscape that we visited Ireland for.
We were very fortunate to be given a tour of the castle which topped off our stay. We would definitely recommend Lough Cutra to travelers seeking the breathtaking Irish countryside and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
Our stay in Cormorant Cottage at Lough Cutra was a truly unique experience. It was mind blowing to wake up and make our morning coffee while looking out the kitchen window at a castle.
Carrie greeted us on our first day at the cottage and was both very helpful and pleasant. She was also easy to get in touch with both before and during our stay.
The cottage sits on the grounds of a working farm and has a rustic and antique feel about it. But the grounds are beautiful and the interior was very clean. There was enough hot water for four adults to shower and the modern appliances were an added convenience to our stay. Internet worked perfectly. We had no complaints.
The cottage's location was also ideal for touring The Burren. Shannon airport is a mere half hour away. A jaunt to the Cliffs of Moher even took us less than an hour. However, simply touring the grounds was enjoyable and peaceful enough. One could simply stay here and go no further for their vacation.
We were also fortunate enough to meet Susan, the castle's owner. She is a very kind and welcoming woman. Spending time with her added volumes to our stay.
For anybody looking to tour The Burren or to simply have a quaint getaway in the countryside, I'd highly recommend staying at Cormorant Cottage. I would most certainly return one day.
The Cormorant Cottage Lough Cutra has a wonderful location.
Carrie Baker was very helpful as well as the gentleman who was in
charge of the Farm and Cottages (Gary). A vehicle is a must. The
beauty of the 3000 acre Lake, Farm, Cottages and Castle is spectacular.
It feels cozy and mysterious at the same time. Hope to be back.
This is a very private place, so get ready to Relax and unwind.
This house was absolutely beautiful. It was a hidden gem. We had a large group so it was perfect for us . The grounds were spectacular and lovely places to walk . Everything was provided in the house even shower gel which was an added bonus . It was lovely and clean and there was even essentials left for us in the kitchen which was very thoughtful. I was very impressed with this house and every staff member that we saw was extremely friendly. We dealt with Carrie who was extremely accomodating and lovely. Would definitely return .
Our hosts were available when we needed help and were extremely charming and friendly.
Chris was an excellent host. He met us, and with a welcome pack of bread, tea, eggs and milk, gave us a lovely tour of the place and tips on where to go. He'd even prepared the fire - all we needed to do was strike a match and with loads of logs to keep us going. Great. The grounds are beautiful and the surrounding countryside stunning. Accurately described and highly recommended.
