In October of 2009 I moved to Überlingen, Germany from the US. For some reason, after growing up in the Midwest of the US (yes Kansas, the same place Dorothy and the Wizard live in), I decided to move to what seems to be the Midwest of Europe! But I absolutely love being in south Germany, just off of the Bodensee working with an international design team. I'm a landscape architect by education (although I have quite a bit to learn) and constantly intrigued by design in its small and large forms.
I'm hoping to visit all of Europe, and have been enjoying (website hidden) to its fullest.
I love that I now have the opportunity to see Europe, and can say that since being here, I have been - except for one time - always traveling by (website hidden). From Switzerland, Austria, and the vastness of Germany, to the UK, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands - hiking in the Alps, skiing and learning to snowboard, rock climbing in Germany and Austria, and just enjoying my traveling time, getting to know new people along the way and establishing friendships when and where I can.
With Airbnb, I want to try this as an alternative. I always enjoy meeting people, but I also like the privacy and security offered by separate flats without the hassle that can sometimes occur while at a hostel or the somewhat dull blankness of chain hotels. Not to say that they are bad options, but with Airbnb Im hoping to establish a different network of sorts, but also to see the city, have a place to stay at that also says a bit about the person who is there.
