Great people! the place is a tad farther (not by much) and the showers are cold (at least your clean) but I think that this is where you get a more real maui, hawaii experience for a great price! And did I mention the owners are great?! They went out of their way to be nice to us and even helped us out when i stupidly hit a big boulder with our rental car.
A good clean place to sleep, away from the city but near Paia and the start of the Road to Hana, very central. Good knowledgeable hosts and very quiet local. Highly recommended.
Hosts are friendly and welcoming. I did not rent a car for my first night there thinking I would hitchhike around. Not ideal for a woman traveling alone. Quite far from highway and a bit sketchy road to the house. The house is ok. I ended up renting a car after that. Expect youth hostel type of accommodation. Cheap, shared, but great.
I didn't spend much time here, mainly just to sleep, but liked the room (very basic) and the house and the location and loved sleeping in the rain forest on two rainy windy nights. Beautiful.
We were unable to make it due to a change in our plans to get to Hana earlier in the trip. But Pierre was very communicative, helpful and prepared as a host. I will look forward to staying another time.
Very friendly and helpful Host. It´s a kind of Jungle Life. For people who likes the Nature and being outside of Citylife! Enjoy yourself...
We enjoyed our stay here. It felt like we had the whole house to ourselves when we got there as well on other nights. It's away from the hustle which was perfect for us since we wanted a relaxing way to enjoy Maui. Perfect for those wanting to explore the Road to Hana, go hiking in Haleakala or to grab a bite to eat in Paia. There was no wifi but my phone (Verizon) worked well while there. All in all, it was a great place to stay. We definitely would stay here again!
We stayed olny few nights but it was amazing experience!
Hosts were friendly, place was clean, kitchen well equiped.
I would really recommend Surfers (website hidden).the road to there isnt that bad, you just have to go slowly.
Very comfortable bed and a very clean house overall! The hosts are super helpful and recommended some things off the beaten path for us to do. Had some issues with the shower because it had been raining a lot. Otherwise, an excellent place to stay, especially for such a price.
you get what you pay for, don't expect any fancy hightech a-class hotel, it is a house in the middle of nowhere. this is not a bad thing but be aware that there are miles to go for the next town. and there is no WiFi, the description says there is but you are lucky to get a cellphone signal.
overall, nice, friendly, good place to stay and i would recommend this to a friend.
If you're looking for the best place to stay stop searching now! Welcome to the jungle:) I've been there for 2 weeks and it was the best ever. I'ts great to meet many different peoples arround the world, great talks, barbecues, parties makes you feels like you arrived home. The surfers house gives you much more experience than a hotel in town, cheep, friendly and safe. Pierre is an excellent host, if you need something just let him know and you'll be helped out. I'll be back soon and there is no question where to relax after a great day on water.
Great host, great house and great ambient!!
Pierre is a great person:
he is always here if you need him.
He lives for his passion, from France to Indonesia, Canaria's Islands...looking for big waves!
He makes bbq everyday. Very sociable, you will meet new people in his house and feel immediatly at home.
