Great for big groups - we were a group of ten on a working-type retreat and spent a lot of time in the compound and travelled into Ubud for dinner etc. You can also order take-away Indonesian food from a lady down the road. It is about a half-hour walk into town without footpaths, so better to get a taxi or hire a scooter. The rooms are large and the villa is located on outskirts of Ubud in a tiny village with rice fields, a semi-rural setting.
Being the first time I use AirBnB, I was a little nervous about how things will turn out. We stayed at the Vila for 5 nights. We were a group of 5 friends so we rented out the entire Vila. We were extremely satisfy with the Vila. The Vila is located close enough to Ubud but 2km outside of the main commercial area, so we had a strong taste of the local culture and the calmness of the area (rice fields, farms, etc). You can walk to Ubud center quite easily (20-30min) or ask a driver. The Vila was fantastic, excellent condition (Vila is less than 6 months old), safe and surrounded by high walls, rooms are huge and comfortable, very nice swimming pool, nice open kitchen. Overall, great value for money, I would definitely recommend the place and keen to go back. Komang our host was incredible, breakfast were delicious and she was very kind to organise food, massages, laundry, etc. We also had the chance to met the owner Komang (also) at Bali Buda cafe.
I would recommend bringing ear plugs for the morning as they are many roosters around. All part of the experience.
The Vila can be a bit hard to find at first, best is to organise your driver to speak with Komang for direction. That was really easy for us.
In Ubud, I read another comment about a driver named Dewa. Not 100% sure if he is the same, but we also hired Dewa Thino to drive us around for site seeing and place to see. I would also recommend him.
Again, strongly recommend this Vila and staying in Ubud as a base to explore Bali.
Very comfortable bungalow with private outdoor living area overlooking at the swimming pool. The breakfast prepared by the staff is very nice and more generally, the staff is very helpful if you need to rent a scooter or find a driver to drop you somewhere else.
The house is 10 minutes away from central Ubud by scooter, but locomotion is compulsory !
There is a neighbor with roosters and hens behind the wall of the bungalow and this gets to be very noisy as the sun goes up. We were up at 7 at the latest every morning.. You have to know it, or bring your earplugs !
The pool is very nice too, after a day in the heat of Ubud.
Many thanks Komang !!
I booked 5 nights in Komang's Skyline Villa Bungalow in early August 2013 but ended up staying a total of 6 nights. The property is a little hard to find when you initially arrive but if you tell your driver to call the number provided all will be good. When I first arrived no one seemed to know about my arrival which was slightly understandable as I had emailed Komang 2 days prior asking if it was possible to arrive 1 day earlier then booked. There was also confusion because those staying on the property and the staff where not aware the place was referred to as "Skyline Villa", they referred to it as another name, which as confusing for a bit until I pulled up Komang's picture associated with the reservation. But all was quickly sorted out and the staff went to work on preparing the bungalow for my stay (Flowers on my nightstand and on my patio table was such a nice touch). The bungalow is behind/infront of a larger two story house that was occupied by 5 or 6 very nice people. I found my bungalow to be quite nice. The bed is big and comfee. They have a nice wardrobe cabinet to hang and store clothes. The bathroom is nice and a very nice size and the shower provides hot water. Breakfast was included and my patio was a very nice setting to enjoy it. The staff makes a very nice breakfast - eggs, toast, fruit and coffee or tea and the portions are very generous! The staff is wonderful; friendly and accommodating. Just ask and they will coordinate. Location is nice; not too far or too close to central Ubud . My recommendation is to rent a motorbike since there are no sidewalks 1/2 of the way to Central Ubud from Komang's Skyline Villa Bungalow. In addition, the streets are very dark at night, even with a flashlight. The staff will coordinate a motorbike for you within minutes from your request. WiFi is hit or miss in the bungalow and porch ares but stronger near the larger house on the property. I found using the wifi while near the pool was my best bet. Not a bad location to do some work. The pool is a nice size and well kept. It was so nice to take a swim after a busy day touring Ubud or surrounding areas. What needs to be mentioned is the noise factor. There are A LOT of nature noises Komang's Skyline Villa Bungalow which is nice but if you are a light sleeper, which I am not, you may have a concern staying at this location - rooster, chicken, pig, dog, cat noises and a chant call/prayer noises. The noise is loud and constant, all day and night. Unfortunately, if I was with any of my many friends who are light sleepers we would have had to move, but luckily for me it was a solo trip. I enjoyed my...
What a perfect place to stay in Ubud. Komang was so friendly and helpful and the place was new, clean and everything we needed. Breakfast was fantastic too. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Ubud. Thank you for a magical time.
Five of us stayed at The Skyline Estate villa, just out of Ubud. It was beautifully set up and comfortable. Great swimming pool and the outdoor kitchen area was very nice. Bedrooms were really comfortable. It was nice to be away from the bustle of central Ubud and there were plenty of reminders that we were pretty much in the countryside.
It was only a two kilometre trip into Ubud, and I quite often walked this, though this would only be for more adventurous, as there were lots of little obstacles to be negotiated on the way. For the others ( we had an elderly member in our party ), we were able to arrange a pick up and drop off by car from Kadek, the brother of the girl who cooked and cleaned. Once in Ubud there was no problem picking up transport back, no matter what time of day or night.
So, it was a great base from which to explore.
I'd definitely stay here again.
Great stay at this villa, rooms and bathrooms are huge, pool and grounds are beautiful. Komang made us a fantastic breakfast every morning and helped us with everything from a quick lift into Ubud on her scooter or getting us a driver for the day. Request Dewa for a great drive around the Island to see whatever you want and some things you didn't expect. He was supremely helpful in whatever we needed. I absolutely recommend!!
My husband and I stayed in Komang's lovely guest house for about a week and a half. We had work to complete, so having good wifi was very important for us. The wifi worked very well, and Komang even told us that she was upgrading soon to something even better. The pool was refreshing, clean, and a perfect touch to the beautiful yard. The lovely couple who cleaned the home and pool were very helpful during our stay. We had laundry done a couple times and the wife made us a delicious breakfast every morning! The guesthouse was the perfect size for my husband and I. We were mostly only in there to sleep and get some refuge from the Bali heat (aircon worked great). The wifi didn't reach the guesthouse, but there was a nice big table in the outdoor kitchen for us to work at. We also bought groceries to keep in the fridge and make lunch/dinner most days. You will definitely want a motorbike if you stay here as it is not near much. Which was nice because it was always quiet (besides the nature sounds, which we liked). Groceries, restaurants, and the main city center is just a quick 10 minute motorbike ride away. We would definitely stay here again!
