This review is about my stay during the in-demand period of Salone del Mobile. The apt was around 80 Euros/night. Please keep this in mind.
I booked 19 days because my previous apt was taken. On move-in morning, the wifi was broken. Elena quickly offered to send me a portable wifi (arrived after 3 days). My first impression of the studio was that it was dark, extremely small and had an odd stale smell. The listing did not state that the elevator would stop at the third floor and there would be stairs to the top. I had a lot of extremely heavy luggage and I have a spinal condition which limits me. I immediately informed Elena that I was unhappy about what I am paying for the apt for what it is, the lack of wifi and the very steep stairs that I was not informed about. I knew that the policy was strict and it is impossible trying to find accommodation during Salone week. I asked for a price reduction considering.
She responded in what I thought was an unprofessional manner. To my comment that the bathroom was not 100% clean she said it was "impossible." To my comment that I have a spinal condition and just lifted many pieces of heavy luggage up the stairs she said "every one in Milan knows that roof apartments have stairs, and do you want me to write on the listing that there are four stairs?" There are actually 18 very steep steps to the top. Not four. To the comment about the wifi she said "it happens to everyone!" and then absolutely refused to budge on the price. She then offered for me to leave immediately and pay 50%. I said no thank you and agreed to deal with it.
I had no problem with the mismatched linen, towels, clip-on curtains and darkness but the stale smell would just never go away! I tried opening the windows, buying scented candles! nothing!
The shower is on a platform, minuscule and flooded EVERY SINGLE TIME. All over the floor, under the door and into the apartment almost destroying my shoes! The shower floor was always slippery with soap-scum because of the flooding (took only 3 minutes) and I was always afraid of slipping and hitting my head. When I informed Elena, she told me to "use the curtain properly" and then basically told me to deal with it and that there was nothing I could do. I did not respond to this; I thought it was extremely unprofessional and rude. The fold-out table was broken and the kettle was completely rusted. I scheduled all my work-trips during this period and stayed at my friend's apt almost the whole time. I hate to leave a negative review but this is my honest experience.
Positives: there were amenities for 1 light traveler and the location is good. Also, I would like to thank Lyn very much for all her help in moving.
Nice owner and nice apartment!Recommend to all who will stay in Milan.
I had a really good experience at Studio Arena. It's small and cosy and in a really good location. Walking distance to Duomo. Metro & tram 5 minutes walk. It's also right beside Parco Sempione which is a massive plus. The park is beautiful to jog around or to stroll around. There are loads of lovely bars and restaurant in walking distance. It is in the middle of Chinatown area which has a friendly vibe to it. I would highly recommend this studio to anyway staying long term or short term in Milano
I stayed here for a month, for an internship. Perfect location, size, amenities, etc. Had an amazing time, no problems at all. Elena was really a perfect host. I have already been recommending other interns to stay here.
The place is great! Close to the metro stop, Moscova. Nice neighborhood. Elena is so nice, I recommend this apartment.
Sweet and cosy.
