I have lived in New Orleans all my life, I own this Historical Row House and have beed bringing her back to life after being neglected for years.
Art provides a great resource for visiting NOLA! Nothing was lacking in the comfortable apartment from snacks to magazines of local events AND bicycles available 24/7 for exploring the neighborhoods. The lighting, climate control and latest electronics reflect his electrical engineering career. Looking forward to the next stay, either in the Greek Revival or the gorgeous apartment upstairs with a view of the ships going down the Mississippi. Highly recommend!
Art is Awesome. We were even a tiny bit high maintenance during this particular stay I would say, and he handled all of our needs and requests with ultimate grace and a super cool attitude.
• Coming down at 10pm to lower a bicycle seat
• Meeting me at 2am for initial checkin so that I could stay out and party my first night with co-workers
• Hanging out and giving Tina and I the lowdown on the town
• And be sure to get the tour of the whole building, which he has fairly single-handedly renovated! It's awesome and his knowledge of building history / town history is fascinating.
A great spot, but a better host.
New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit whether for work or pleasure. I just returned from a wonderful 4 days in New Orleans for a wedding at Race and Religious. The best part by far was the apartment I rented from Art. What a gracious host and I cant say enough about the space. Of course it is in a great location a couple blocks off Magazine, which is a great area. If you want to get out of the Quarter and have a "local" experience this is the place to be. He is so nice and full of great information and I have to admit I kept the poor man waiting as I forgot to call him and tell him i was running late. He was so nice about it. The apartment was super clean and comfortable and I would stay there again and again. It was a nice experience because everyone on that block was so easy to talk to you, you felt like you were apart of the neighborhood as well.
Just got home after 2 amazing weeks staying in Art's apartment...This perfectly located gem of a place makes you feel like a New Orleans local, while providing all the comforts (and more!) of home: Sonos sound system, cable tv, luxurious bathtub, great view, WiFi, easy access to Magazine st and the French Quarter...but possibly the best feature of this apartment is the host himself...Art is an incredibly lovely and gracious man. He started off our stay by personally showing us around, and making sure we had everything we needed for our New Orleans adventure...he even took us out to dinner! We're happy to not only call Art the best host we've had the pleasure of staying with, but to now call him a friend. If you're going to the Big Easy you need to stay with Art. Period.
I would like to take this opportunity to sound the praises of Art Laux as a host and his Greek Revival Villa as a "Home Run" place to stay while in New Orleans. My girlfriend and I just recently stayed with him and he was amazing. Art provided a great experience and was helpful as far as his venue but also others. I contacted multiple places on AirBnb but I made the RIGHT choice in staying with Mr. Laux. I endorse the place and the host without Any reservations.
Our stay at New Orleans was the highlight of our 2-week trip of East Coast USA, made especially so by Art and his kind hospitality. Art's apartment on the first floor (Convention Center, Historical 1831) was beautifully refurbished and tastefully decorated. It was very spacious, clean and well kept. As we were in New Orleans for a conference, the location was perfect as it was just a short walk from the Convention Center. We didn't manage to use the bikes that were provided. We ended up exploring the Garden District, Warehouse District and the French Quarters on foot, and it was a good workout for us, what with all the good food we have been having. Art stocked up the fridge and pantry with drinks, snacks and ham, bread and eggs for breakfast, which was really thoughtful of him. My favourite part of the apartment was the antique floor standing radio with a Sonos box cleverly hidden inside it. Art was kind to take us out for dinner twice. He took us to his favourite restaurants, which were both wonderful and had excellent New Orleans food. We really enjoyed his company and it was nice to learn first hand about New Orleans from a local. Our trip ended on a happy note, with Art taking us to the airport in his truck. We can't wait to return to New Orleans again.
Art was a perfect host, the apartment was clean, comfortable and exceeded my expectations. I was in town for a conference at the convention center and the location was perfect. I was staying alone but felt perfectly safe and secure. I would definitely stay at Art's again.
Art was a perfect host, who went above and beyond to accommodate my changing schedule. The apartment was exactly as described and was an ideal location for my event in NOLA. Loved having the bike available and being able to stay in such a historic and charming apartment.
Art was extremely helpful upon arrival. Despite a rough exterior the interior of the apartment was fantastic - clean and classic. The walk back from downtown was a little sketchy late at night but otherwise a perfect place to stay.
The apartment was very nice, as advertised, and perfect for what we were looking for. Very convenient to the convention center, which you can see across the street.
Art is a fantastic host. Very responsive, very nice, and very knowledgeable about New Orleans. Also was kind enough to do a pick up and drop off at the airport. Great experience. Would definitely recommend.
