Will definitely help you with your NYC visit
This is a great little perch atop a slope down to a beautiful lake. Make sure you take a dip in the lake at any time of year and walk down to the waterfall in town. I can't wait to visit in the summer, too.
The house is charming. It is creaky but in a good way and the kitchen is quite nice. No oven, however, but there is a grill and a toaster oven. the stove is very good.
The rest of the property which is open to your use is lovely. We enjoyed our respite from the city here.
Dean and Jane are so nice and helpful. They were available for all calls and questions.
Thank you hosts for a terrific stay at your rustic, beautiful and relaxing lake cabin. You were perfect hosts-- leaving us a bottle of wine, suggesting where to hike with our dog and quickly helping with the wood stove-- but otherwise leaving us to enjoy some quiet family time without life's interruptions. Highly recommend!
I was left with the key to enter the ship and all was in ship shape (ah-ah), and as written.
A few very minor boat-related tweaks later, the stay was thoroughly enjoyable despite an almost bizarre swings in weather form blazing heat to freezing rain!
Perhaps not ideal are the frequent helicopter-taxis flying above during the day, and of course one has to not mind the gentle and a little less gentle rocking typical of this sort of accommodation - which none of our family did.
But surely no better way to feel somehow 'privileged' when visiting NYC - one sees from the boat and harbor, the expanse and the city, knowing very few people are that opportunity!
Travel to NYC is very easy, taking just 10mins once the close-bye bus arrives to all connections.
So, yes, I would do it again easily, as there are not many options that good for this reasonable price in that region.
And it's different!
The Lake Waramaug Perch was very cozy and relaxing. We had a great time sitting on the porch, surrounded by trees and overlooking the lake. And, even though the temperatures were a bit low, we still were able to spend some time at the dock. Dean and Jean were great hosts.
Our weekend at Lake Waramaug could not have been better, it's a beautiful location with great amenities and extremely nice hosts. Definitely recommend.
We spent two terrific weeks as Dean and Jane's guests. The view of the lake is beautiful. Having previously lived in the area, we were familiar with all the local points of interest and restaurants, etc. but the information package we received contained scads more. Sitting down by the lake was SO relaxing! We had many guests come to visit and celebrated Barbara's birthday with a cookout on the screened-in porch. Dean and Jane were most accommodating and we would recommend staying at "The Perch" to anyone.
We just got back from our stay at The Bird's Nest on August 15. It was me and my boyfriend and our 2 elderly moms. Dean's wife Jean greeted us at the cabin and was so welcoming and nice! A bottle of wine on the counter was also a nice touch! Later that evening we did have a question about the tv - I texted Dean and he was there within a few minutes to help us out! They also let us stay later the day we checked out as no one was checking in that day (we left on a Friday) so we were able to enjoy some more time at the boathouse.
We had a fantastic stay at Dean and Jane's lovely lake house getaway. Their hospitality was wonderful -- as was everything else about our long weekend.
Dean and his wife were wonderful guests, leaving the property in clean condition and being respectful of the vintage nature of the property. I look forward to visiting their Airbnb properties.
Dean and his family were fantastic guests, we loved having them stay at our Carriage House! Impeccably clean and super-friendly, we were so glad to get to know them and would love to have them return any time they are down in the Lowcountry! We would recommend them to any Airbnb hosts.
Dean and Jane are the quintessential host and hostess. Their Manhattan digs are awesome. After a day in the city, we relaxed on the deck with glorious wine, cheese and a view of the Manhattan skyline. Dinner topped with after dinner drinks, listening to the halyards slapping the neighboring masts and the twinkling lights reflecting in the Hudson, is one of my most memorable times in New York. And to rise to coffee and that view...I suggest it for everyone.
Dean is one of the best people that I have met on this planet. Having said said that, the only thing better than Dean would be the opportunity to stay on his amazing boat!!!! It is by far one of the coolest nyc living experiences around. Cheers Dean!!
