When I originally booked with Akane, it was only for three nights. Unfortunately, due to circumstances not under my control I had to extend twice, and Akane was very helpful and understanding. She made sure that the place was clean before I stayed, even though I had made a last minute change!
This was our favorite out of 4 places we stayed in Tokyo. It's a comfortable and relatively spacious apartment, with enough of a kitchen to cook if you need to. The shower is amazing.
Akane was really helpful, especially considering she was in the USA when we stayed. She even helped us find her apartment over a video call when we had trouble locating it.
Neighborhood is quiet and very charming. It's less touristy than some other areas we stayed in but has a large expat population. The tiny cocktail bar (Aliviar) about 50ft from her front door was an unexpected delight in such a residential area.
Difficult to add anything additionally to the comments already made….
We can just say that this was one of the best Airbnb experiences till date and therefore highly recommended to other travellers!
Was here for 5 days, Great place, Good location, super clean, quiet and easy instructions. Would stay here again.
Size is fine (1DK) for two, which is decent in Tokyo (especially Ebisu!)
Akane wasn't in Tokyo but super helpful and responded to my late bookin (booked for the next day) within 30 seconds! Thanks!
Akane's lovely apartment was the perfect place to finish our month long visit to Japan! An easy walk from Hiro-o station (if you don't have a lot of luggage like we did!) and plenty of places to eat, buy groceries, or pick up a snack. There is a wonderful bakery less than two blocks away for a quiet breakfast (one of the best lattes I had in Japan) and for those willing to walk a bit more, there is a municipal garden with a beautiful pond and numerous paths to explore.
The apartment is very clean and you can enjoy a bath at the end of a long day of visiting the sites (remember to shower first, then bathe). We did not use the kitchen (too many family reunion dinners to attend) but everything needed to cook at home is available...including a coffee machine that looks like it came out of the workshops that built Star Wars androids. The apartment is very quiet and secure.
But, the best part is working with Akane! We exchanged numerous messages, many just to keep in touch with our hectic schedule. Due to an unforeseen power outage, we had some trouble with hot water and wifi. Akane responded to our needs quickly and efficiently (even though she was in a different country/time zone), including a video call to walk us through the various buttons/dials to turn on. You would not get that personal attention at most hotels, let alone a rental.
I highly recommend this wonderful apartment and fantastic hostess.
Thank you for your detailed feedback, Will! I now know a possibility of what happened and we will not make it happen again! Hope you come back to Tokyo again ;) I appreciate your advice too.
The place is very nice. Cozy and clean. And it provides almost everything you need. Great experience!
Akane was not at home herself, actually nobody was :) but things were arranged perfectly. It was easy to get the key and communications with her through Airbnb were fast and accurate. Appartment was cosy and modern, would recommend a stay to anyone. Maximun for 3 persons I would say.
It was the second time for my husband and me to stay at Akane's place for 4 nights. We enjoyed staying at her place which is convenient, quiet and comfortable. We were impressed that she prepared a gift for us. She is a great host.
Akane's place was great for our group of 3! Her apartment has a main room that has the living room + kitchen, a bathroom w/ a in-unit washer, and then a bedroom room off the main room with a Japanese futon (think American futon sans the frame). My bf and I stayed in the bedroom and his brother stayed in the living room. There were lots of mattress pads in the closet for extra cushion.
The apartment was a ~9min walk to the Ebisu station, which was very convenient. There were also LOTS of cool bars and restaurants we found while walking to and from the station. There were also a few convenience stores on the way so we usually grabbed some breakfast sandwiches and coffee at those in the morning before starting our sight seeing each day.
Akane was one of the most responsive hosts I've ever had the pleasure of staying with! She wasn't even in Japan at that time and still responded in just a few hours to any questions we had. Really appreciated that. Would stay at her place again!
We enjoyed a very convenient 5-night stay in the apartment of Akane. For us it was the quite spot to recover in busy Tokio. You can reach all parts of the city easily and plunge well rested into the largest metropole on our planet. Communication with Akane was great, she is very responsive and helpful.
Thank you for your advice on my map! Very helpful. Come back anytime :)
I enjoyed hosting my guest and would definitely love if they returned. Also should they host elsewhere I would book with them .
Very nice couple . Super sweet. A++
I met Akane 10 years ago while living in Japan and we have been friends ever since. She has a great outgoing personality, is very caring, helpful and knowledgable. I do not hesitate one second to recommend her lovely apartment.
Akane is the sweetest girl you'd meet, i met her through her husband Fosu and we clicked straight away & become good friends! She's cute, funny, kind, friendly and knowledgeable.
I attended their wedding and stayed at Akane's lovely apartment. The location is perfect (walking distance to nearest station and if you like to explore you could even walk further to Shibuya)
Her apartment is clean, comfortable and make you feel very homey.
I have no hesitation to recommend this host and her apartment having stayed there myself.
