I'm English and usually travel with my husband. Were both now retired but we like to think we're adventurous in our travels and our grown-up kids agree! You're likely to find us in the cheapest bars and restaurants with local people but then every so often we'll head off for an extravagant coffee in an up-market hotel. The only languages we can manage are French (from school days) and some Spanish - we're happy to try but can't do much in tenses other than the present! We love Spain and Latin America and places where we can get good fish that's fresh enough to eat as ceviche! We've recently started to fall in love with SE Asia and had fabulous Airbnb stays in Malaysia and Thailand but never found anywhere that was right in Cambodia so we had to hotel it - nowhere near as much fun or interest. We've met some lovely people in all sorts of places thru Airbnb - Malaga and Madrid (again) next on the list!
