The apartment is exactly as described and photographed, the bedroom is absolutely beautiful and furnished perfectly. We were slightly worried that the bed was individual antique singles, probably with a zip mattress, actually it's one huge really comfortable double. To Northern European tastes the kitchen is a bit stark but probably works really well in the summer with the terrace just outside set up with a table and 4 chairs. In Oct the sun only hits the terrace mid afternoon for a few hours. It's great to have a parking space in the basement and Luigi And his Father helped us find the place. I think some of the other apartments, while not so grand may have private sun filled terraces.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon to 24 hours of pouring rain and were not able to buy basics such as coffee or milk anywhere in Otranto till the next day which combined with nowhere in the town opening for morning coffee was a bit frustrating. In low season not a lot happens and we struggled to find places to pop out to for a drink in the evening (key side bar was excellent though!) We loved Maglie the nearest town, very stylish in the evening.. It's not mentioned in any guidebook. And Galatina has some jaw dropping churches. In retrospect we should have asked Luigi for local suggestions as he is a very nice chap.
Siamo stati benissimo!! Bellissimo appartamento, comodo e ben arredato!
I gestori sono stati gentilissimi e disponibilissimi a rispondere a ogni nostra domanda e necessità, consigliandoci pure alcuni ottimi ristorantini e negozi dove comprare prodotti locali. Sicuramente ci torneremo.
We stayed eight days in Otranto - eight wonderful days! The apartment is very near the historic center and the beaches in the city. It was a very pleasant walk to the historic center. Luigi and his parents helped us in every moment we needed it and were very kind! And we could park our car in a near garage. The apartment was great, very spacious and elegant. We really felt like home!
We were please with the apartment, fresh and comfortable and with the smooth arrival and departure. The apartment was well situated in Otranto to both beach and the historical center. Otranto was a good base for enjoy southern Puglia.
Place had an amazing terrace. Absolutely stunning from the highest point. The no. 6 apartment was super clean inside and was very simple and modern. It was perfect for eating out under the stars. There was also an outside shower which was a sweet amenity.
The only downsize was the mattresses. They were quite hard. The pullout couch sank in places and it was a rough sleep. Max people I would say is 3 for the apartment. Also I wish there was a pantry for leftover food (olive oils, noodles, salt, pepper ect). Also if you wash clothes make sure they show you how to use the washer. It was very different than back home.
Overall, I liked the apartment and it was a great location. The patio couldn't be beat. Beautiful place. Luigi was helpful organizing a boat tour.
Had fun! Thanks!
I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay in Otranto.
Residence Castello is super clean, very spacious, and appropriately modern.
Apartment n.6 is more than enough room for one person, with a bathroom,
bedroom, living space, and small kitchen with supplies. The terrace for n.6
is huge and semi-private. I sat outside for some wine and taralli one day
and then did some morning exercises and stretching another day. The view is
fairly nice, but the nicest view is from the top floor terrace. No
complaints though. The location of perfect! It's situated right outside
the beautiful historic center. You can literally just cross the street, and
then you're there. There's parking under the building, which was absolutely
perfect because I had a rental car the whole time. The best part of my
stay was experiencing the generous, charming, and warm hospitality of Luigi
and his father. They went above and beyond to make sure I arrived in
Otranto with no issues after a two hour drive from the Bari Airport at
night. Luigi was super responsive via email, and when his father and I had
trouble communicating (unfortunately, I know zero Italian), Luigi got on
the phone to help translate. Luigi's father would even help me get out of
the garage since it's hard to see oncoming traffic from the incline in the
garage. When I left, I was given a wonderful guidebook and bottle of Rose.
I was delighted by every aspect my stay with Luigi and his parents in
Otranto and highly recommend Residence Castello to everyone!
Luigi's place is fantastic! It is exactly as it looks in the photos and is set up with everything that we needed. Our journey to Otranto took quite some time so were very relieved when we finally arrived and the apartment was incredible, it definitely lifted our moods. After a quick swim at the beach, we drank and ate on the large terrace while the sun slowly went down, showing a breathtaking sunset. It really was perfect. Luigi's Dad kindly picked us up from the station and dropped us back at the end of our stay. Luigi was great with communication, flexible and helpful. I would highly recommend staying in his place. I would also recommend eating dinner at Laltro Baffo, and/or Restaurant Peccato Di Vino. :)
Luigi upgraded us to Apartment n.8 which is a similar apartment to n.7 but with a HUGE private terrace overlooking the castle. It really is a fabulous space with giant cacti on one side and giant shells on the other (plus table and chairs and sun loungers).
Our 1 yr old had a fabulous time commando crawling around and pulling himself up to shout at the traffic below whilst we enjoyed the sun loungers and watching the late afternoon sun colour the sandstone of the old town and castle.
The whole building is kept spotlessly clean including the terraces (and cleaning and drying equipment are kept in an outside cupboard in case, like us you have a messy eater to clean up after).
Otranto is a beautiful place and we very much enjoyed our spring break. Luigi and his parents (who live in the building) were very helpful with providing baby cot etc and we would recommend the apartments.
This is a wonderful apartment in an interesting building right on the edge of the old town of Otranto. It is extremely well-appointed and furnished, well equipped and exceptionally clean. The bedroom with the vaulted ceiling must be the most impressive room, if not the largest, that I have ever slept in. It has private parking underneath the building. It is in an ideal location opposite the castle and 30 seconds walk from the old town. It has a large shared balcony with other apartments, although we didn't use it while we were there. Luigi is a very good host, even giving us a large bag of home-grown tomatoes and a huge melon! Highly recommended.
Absolutely positive experience with Luigi. Recommend this guest to everybody...
