Staying at this sweet, freshly renovated shotgun was an incredible way to spend our honeymoon! Eleven days of cozy, colorful surroundings, evenings spent riding bikes (from Bicycle Michael's- best rental deal in town!) to Frenchmen or just cuddling up on the super comfortable leather couch, mornings with birds singing, church bells, and sun shining through the windows... We had NO IDEA how wonderful our stay was going to be! If you find yourself lucky enough to stay at this beautiful residence, around the corner you'll find some locally curated gifts, jewelry, a museum of local photography/sculptural works, and a selection of truly outstanding food. This is the perfect house for tourists who aren't into tourism, but really want to get the feel of what it's like to live in NOLA for a while.
We only had the pleasure of meeting Marie, but she was incredibly laid back, sweet, responsive, and gave us all the space we wanted. Completely non-intrusive. Upon our arrival, she even gifted us with chocolates and champagne to celebrate our nuptials! The fridge was stocked with bottled water and half and half, and the coffee cart had a fresh can of organic ground beans and some raw sugar. She totally anticipated our needs and set the tone for a phenomenal stay.
Additionally, having a washer/dryer available was probably one of the best things we could have hoped for during this trip.
We hope to return to this beautiful house sometime in the future!
Wonderful host! The room was cozy and felt like home away from home on our family vacation. Hosts were accommodating and friendly, and kept in good contact about any issues needing sorting out. Thank you!
Marie and Raphael were great hosts, and their place is beautiful and eclectic (just like in the pictures). We especially loved the back patio area. The Bywater area had several fun restaurants and bars that my boyfriend and I enjoyed checking out. I would say that if you are a female staying by yourself, you will likely want to take cabs when you go out at night, as we heard from many people that it is not safe to walk alone in that area at night. I would recommend this listing if you are looking for a neighborhood feel on your visit to NOLA. Thanks for the great stay, Marie and Raphael!
Marie and Raphael were wonderful hosts, very responsive and friendly. We had a great time staying in their guest house! The shotgun-style house is beautifully appointed, with a very comfy bed, amazing kitchen, lots of nice art, and a cozy, secluded deck in the backyard. The house was much bigger than it looked in pictures. They have a quiet spot in the vibrant, up-and-coming Bywater neighborhood - walk down any street and you'll stumble upon great food and drink, art galleries, and live music. It's a fairly short walk (or quick drive) to the Marigny for stellar jazz clubs, and just a few blocks more to the French Quarter. We'd love to stay with them again next time we're in New Orleans!
Marie and Raphael offer a true insider stay in New Orleans. They are the excellent hosts, offering recommendations tailored to your needs, attentive and not intrusive. There cozy and eclectic apartment is even much larger then it appears online. We would recommend renting a bike or car while staying here. For sure take in one of Raphael music venues!
This was the perfect place to come home to and wake up at. Clean comfortable, and private. The local neighborhood was great, but if the French Quarter is what you want then you can get there easily and cheap. The bus cost about 1.50 a ride and the cabs were never more than 10 bucks.
A great place to stay! Highly recommend!

Many thanks to Marie and Raffael !
We were very impressed by the beautiful house , every corner was lovingly designed , tasteful and cozy, perfect!
We felt like being at home , we didn't really miss anything. Moreover, no house we've seen before was ever so clean!
They are great and cool hosts , thank you for the warm welcome !
If we are able to come back to New Orleans, we would certainly get in contact with Marie and Raffael and ask them if we could stay there again.
Our stay at Marie and Raphael's home was fantastic. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. Marie went out of her way to provide recommendations and updates about local events and festivals which added a great local flavor to our trip. We were also lucky enough to hear Raphael play at a local bar which was brilliant. We can't recommend this place highly enough.
We loved Marie and Raphael's gorgeous home in the Bywater. It was a great way to experience a real neighborhood and get a sense of the people of New Orleans. They were the most generous of hosts, and I would definitely recommend this warm and welcoming retreat to anyone visiting NOLA. We walked most places - which again was a good way to get to know the neighborhood - but I would recommend hiring bikes as it is a very bike-friendly area.
Unfortunately Marie was unable to make the trip but Raphael did. Very friendly and interesting he would be welcome back anytime. He enjoyed the local way of life and hope to see them both return one day.
I stayed at Marie and Raphael's over SuperBowl weekend and it did not disappoint! It's a charmer in an up and coming neighborhood that provided a quiet retreat after crazy days and loud nights. Fully furnished and beautifully appointed with a spa-ilke bath, it is also outfitted with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The bedding and towels feel luxurious and the queen sized bed is perfect. And if that isn't enough, there's a quiet, lush private deck in the back shared with the owners. Lastly, there is wireless access, but no TV. Perfect for a couple looking for a quiet hideaway. I'll definitely stay there again!
I totally recommend Marie and Raphael's pad. Great space, good energy...awesome place. They also know the city and neighborhood well, and can help you out with ideas on what to do while enjoying your time in New Orleans.
