hablo un poco de castillano....My family lives in the home so you will be able to know how a modern italian family live nowadays . My son works as cook in a little restaurant and my daughter is often out for her studies and job. So I will have enough time to explain you the beauty place all around the area. What I like the most to do in my area is to sit on my terrace drinking a glass of chianti and admiring the panorama: to be able to share with me this pleasure you should rent for some nights the room...
After this smiling calm moment you have plenty of small trips to do in the surrounding, for example it may be very funny to visit the factory of spaghetti, in the village 5 km from home.
The funny thing is that the spaghetti are the longest spaghetti in the world ( One meter!) and they are made in a very old village from where you can admire the walls of a middle- age Castle.
I like also to take a bath in thermal springs, both open air or inside when the weather is more fresh! So dont forget your swim bath.
I can suggest of course to visit Volterra: it is an etrurian town and you can join it by public bus, through magnificient countriside road streets. You will enjoy the bus driving because you wont find rush time only green lands and beautiful landscape.
All the people that came to my home and had some time to dedicate to visit tuscany appreciate a lot Lucca and the inusual way to visit it by bike: you can hire a bike from out of the walls in Lucca and during your tour you will be able to see a wonderful italian city from an original point of view: the roofs!
When you want a rest I remember the botanical garden : always down the shadows of huge and historical trees, you can live your bike safe in the entry of the garden.
From my home we have some public buses that arrive to Pontedera railways station: from there you can arrive in half an hour by train to Florence, forgetting the panic to find a parking when you get to Santa Maria Novella Station you are already in the center and you can visit all Florence walking.
I love so much the most ancient perfumery Antica Farmacia di Santa Maria Novella: it is founded by Medici's family and the arome are so personal.
As soon as I have enough money I go there to spend it all!
If you are hungry go to the pizzeria next home: cheap and good pizza that you can bring on tha terrace and eat it during the tuscan sunset.
Ideal location to discover Tuscany : Pisa 25 km, Florence : 70 km , Livorno : 40 km, Sienna : 90 km, Viareggio : 60 km, Lucca : 45 km, San Gemignano : 50 km . Very near to Pomaia buddist center.
On the "wines road".
MIAO : there are also two cats and you can have your pet with you ( space for dog in the little garden )
