Our stay in Elizabeth's cosy cottage was perfect. Everything was as explained and Elizabeth's neighbour Kathy visited on the first evening to make sure all was fine. The cottage is very cosy and has a homely feel. It is very well appointed and has all the amenities required. There are a lot of dvds which we needed as it rained quite a bit! We had a lovely relaxing break so thanks Elizabeth
On y serait bien résté...
This was truly a peaceful house in Louisburgh to base our many family adventures from. The perfect Place to come back to after hiking Croagh Patrick or a day exploring Kylmore abbey and the wonderful beaches of Mayo. We especially enjoyed the kitchen with the wood stove and all the amenities to cook dinners in a safe cozy atmosphere. Our stay was a very positive experience for our family.
We enjoyed a gorgeous stay in Callacoon just after Easter. The house is in a lovely location (it really is very peaceful!) and convenient to Louisburgh and lots of beaches. Our little boy loved being so close to the sheep in the neighbouring fields, and digging in the stones at the back! The house is so well equipped, and we loved the cosy, relaxed feel of it all. The weather was pretty cold during our stay so the open fire in the living room was great in the evenings. We were having such a lovely time that we extended our trip by a night. Thanks Elizabeth for allowing us to experience your gorgeous home. We'd love to come back again some time soon! Orlaith, Jerry and family.
I had a lovely relaxing Easter weekend in Elizabeth's beautiful Louisburgh home. We were a family group of 4 adults and 2 children. Everything was as described and the house had a lovely cosy feel which made us instantly feel at home. It is situated just outside the village of Louisburgh on a quiet by-road with a bog behind it which added to the peaceful setting.
Elizabeth provided a very clear and concise guide to the home prior to our visit which told us all we needed to know about the house and we were met by a friendly caretaker with our key on arrival which was hassle free.
It is clear that this is a home that is truly loved and a lot of work has went in to making it such a pleasant space. We loved the beautiful, big country kitchen with belfast sink which leads on to a bright airy sunroom. There are solid oak floors throughout the entire home. Books on the surrounding area were made available for our information, as was a comprehensive collection of DVDs, as well as freesat style TV and WiFi, neither of which gave us any problems.
Although there is oil central heating in the house, it is advised to use the 2 fires to predominantly heat the home (one log stove in the kitchen and one open fire in the sitting room). Some starter logs were provided and then we bought some more ourselves from the local garage. We enjoyed the ritual of lighting the fires each evening which made the house even cosier.
The weather was very mixed on our stay (which is very common on the west of Ireland!) but it didn't stop us from enjoying our stay. We visted Westport and Cong. The drive back from Cong via Leenane & Delphi to Louisburgh (along the Wild Atlantic way) is particularly stunning and highly recommended. Westport House is full of history and also worth a visit.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a beautiful home in a gorgeous part of Ireland. The house had everything we needed and overall the experience was excellent.
Thanks Mary. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your visit and the house . I agree that it is a beautiful drive along the Wild Atlantic way.
The listing description was very accurate, peaceful house in lovely surroundings. We had a super few days in this great house.
Thanks Yvonne. You are very welcome and I'm glad you had a good time
Despite storm Frank trying to impact on our visit, Elizabeth and her 'team' (Kathy, Jeanne and Jo) made us very welcome, being there on our arrival and making every effort and succeeding, despite the attrocious weather, in getting the central heating working again. What really impressed me was the level of communication and reassurance we were given while the heating issue was being resolved.
We had a wonderdul 4 days in Elizabeth and Stewart's beautiful house. The house provied everything you could expect from a home and some.
We really enjoyed the wild beauty of Louisburg and it's environ. A wonderful part of the world. One highlight was New Years Eve in Louisburg where the staff and patron's of McNamaras provided us with an eceptionally warm and welcome New Years Eve.
I hope to return to Callacoon durning summer months where the longer days allows you to enjoy the house and surrounds to the full
The house was spacious and well equipped. You'll find all that you need in the kitchen including a substantial stock of non perishables for you to use and restock.
Elizabeth is generous in leaving jackets and boots for you to borrow, DVDs to watch and books to read.
There are ample facilities with two ensuites and a bathroom. The rooms are light and airy.
The wood burner is great as long as you use good dry wood. That kept us lovely and warm and we enjoyed the sun room morning, noon and night. The furniture is comfortable and there is greenery through every window.
The house is about an hour and a quarter from the airport. The scenery is beautiful and it's not far to explore the amazing Connemara loop. Westport is a lovely town. Westport harbour is also worth a visit with galleries of local arts and crafts, coffee house, shops and pub.
The only thing I'd say is to make sure there is enough wood for your first fire. Although we'd been told there would be a starter fire set for us this was not the case. It's worth picking up a bag on your way to the house. A bag of wood for our stay would have felt very welcoming.
Amazing!!! We arrived at the house on a beautiful sunny day and were met by the caretaker, a lovely local woman, and she showed us around. The directions Elizabeth gave us were perfect. I input the coordinates to my phone and it took us to the door. The surroundings of the house are idyllic. It is peaceful and beautiful. The views are stunning. You could walk to Louisburgh town or Carrowmore beach within ten minutes. We used the car as we had children with us. The house itself is beautiful. It is a real home. Everything is accessible and we were made to feel welcome to use it as our home for the duration of our stay. And we did.
The house was the perfect base for any activity one might want to experience including walking, cycling, surfing, socialising or just relaxing. Louisburgh is about 25 minutes drive from Westport. Although Louisburgh is far more authentic. Old Head beach is a couple of km away but Carrowmore is far nicer in my opinion. The views across to Achill are stunning and nothing beats the scenery in this part of the world. Killary is about half an hour away on The Leenane Road. But I doubt anyone could drive out there without stopping a million times just to look!!!
Elizabeth is the perfect host. She made it clear that she was available if any problems should arise or if we needed any assistance. We had the perfect holiday. I can honestly say we did not want to leave. My daughter had the time of her life, as did my wife and I, and I hope we will be making more regular trips in the future.
This was our first Airbnb experience, so we didn't really know what to expect, but the reviews of Elizabeth's house did sound promising so we had high hopes for our vacation.
The location in county Mayo was perfect for us. It's not too touristy, but plenty to do around the area and you can find everything you need there. Make sure to visit the gorgeous beaches!
The first thing we noticed when we walked into the house was the tray with snacks that was left for us. It immediately made us feel welcome. Elizabeth is such an attentive host! Everything was so well thought through, with very clear instructions to everything and good suggestions on where to go and how to find things. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, we were visited by one of the care takers who made sure everything was in order.
As someone else pointed out, this is a real home and not just a house let out for rent. There is a very warm and welcoming vibe in the house and we especially appreciated how we could use toileteries and the supplies for cooking that we needed (of course we tried to replace what we used!). My teenagers were thrilled with the quality of the wifi...! We spent hours on end in the wonderful sun room, but also put the extensive dvd-collection to good use in the evenings!
All in all, our family absolutely loved this house and we are already planning a return trip!
Elizabeth booked for her son Jo. What a delightful, charming, cheerful & friendly young man. He was a pleasure to host & we would welcome him back any time.

Thanks for you stay @ La (P)arenthèse,
Elizabeth, her husband and her friends are very kind people.
They are respectfull of the home, we highly recommend them.
Everything was perfect, hope to see you back soon.
Elizabeth and Stuart were delightful guests. They were really easy
and super friendly. They left gifts for all the staff who really appreciated it. More like old friends than guests.
Elizabeth was a great guest, enthusiastic, well communicated and respectful. We would definitely host her again. Strongly recommended!
Very pleasant guests
Awesome guests! Very tidy, quick in communication, and above all, very nice and highly recommended. Thanks!
