Wonderful host! We arrived in Athens late at the night of Romanos's birthday and were warmly welcomed with a plate of Greek snacks prepared by Maria, his mother, plus some organic wine. All tiredness from 4 hours on catamaran was immediately wiped away by Romanos's hospitality. The studio is exactly how it looks like in pictures, clean and if you are here in Athens during summer, you'll appreciate the fan and the front terrace covered in green.
Location wise: close to all major 'places to see' in Athens. A short walk away from Archaeology museum. 12-15mins walk to the closest metro then 2 or 3 stops more you'll get to others popular destinations in Athens.
We just stayed there for 2 nights so it was extremely short but will definitely recommend the flat to anyone and sure will come back when we are in Athens. Thanks Romanos.
Incredible place to stay, Romanos is the kindest person I've met!!
We arrived a little bit tired and a plate of greek food was waiting for us in this beautiful apartment. The flat is ideally situated in the center with plenty of restaurants and nice spots, clean with delicious breakfast. Satisfied at 100%!!
Thank you Romanos, kisses to your mom too :)
We had a great time. The studio was lovely, very clean and had everything we needed. The small kitchen was a bonus. Ramanos picked us up from the airport (at extra charge) which was very helpful and when we arrived his mother, Maria had prepared us a delicious plate of Greek food, plus some wine was provided - very much appreciated. On the morning of leaving Maria made us Greek pancakes which were again delicious and Ramanos dropped us where we needed to go to get the bus to where we were going next. Athens was extremely hot when we were there but the studio was good in the heat with fans. Would very much enjoy staying there again. There are actually two studios, both similar, one upstairs where we were, and one downstairs. If you have big suitcases or have difficulty with spiral stairs, the downstairs one might be easier. To go the the main sites at the Acropolis and Plaka, we walked about 15 minutes and then caught the Metro into Plaka, but you could walk all the way if you wanted. We also visited the Archeological Museum which was great and only a short walk from the studio. A good thing to do is take the walk up behind the studio and talk the pathway up onto the top of the hill for a panoramic view to the Parthenon. The immediate area is interesting with small shops and a very wide range of artistic graffiti, much expressing the frustrations for Greeks of recent times.
Big thanks to Maria and Ramanos for your wonderful hospitality and conversation.
The best place I've stayed at through this website so far. Amazing location, beautiful room (email hidden)ank you so much for a great time in Athens.
We stayed at Romanos twice (at the beginning and the end of our trip). We enjoyed it very much! It was very clean and as on the pictures. When we arrived Romanos mom served us delicious greek food, which was perfect. At the end we had the honor in celebrating Romanos birthday together, with lovely greek food. It was a pleasure staying at Romanos and we can recommend everybody booking the studios!
Romanos and his family were incredible hosts. We arrived in Athens over 2 hours later than planned, and Romanos' mother had left us a bounty of home-made snacks and some local wine! They shared tips of where to go, what was worth doing, and made sure we had everything we needed. Their home is lovely and has a great history you should ask about! Exarchia is also a wonderful neighborhood to explore. We highly recommend staying with Romanos, and plan to do so ourselves again when we return to Athens for another visit.
We had 4 days to spend in Athens before we went on the Ferry to Crete. Romanos welcomed us and his mother brought the delicious home made food. We did feel so at home and at ease at the house that we sometimes stayed there to enjoy the atmosphere in stead of going out again. All the other reviews are right!! It is heaven there. To sit in one of the gardens. In the middle of a 4 million people city and think that you are in the country. Helpful, handy with information and always prepared to make your stay as pleasant as possible!! A good friend to share a glass of wine with and have a interesting conversation on the roots and differences of Greek society. What can you do when you are from 3-400 B.C and have to live now in modern Greece. Very interesting!! We loved the place. The room, the small kitchen every thing clean!! The sheets soft, the towels white. We loved Athens as a boiling pot of all kind of things. From the Acropolis till the Nat Arch museum of Art. So to make a long story short.... It was hard for us to leave. We can recommend it to every one!!!! A must in Athens!!! Jan and Gerard
Thanks to Romanos for a really great stay! He is so friendly, welcoming and above all very helpful! The studio was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and in close proximity to everything Athens has to offer. I will be back and I can very highly recommend staying with Romanos!
This apartment was our fifth airbnb of a month long trip... we now wish every airbnb had been as amazing as this one!! Don't stay anywhere else in Athens! Romano and his mother were so kind to us and made us feel so welcome. Upon arrival, Romano's mother met us and had a platter of the most delicious food ready for us (Her home made cooking!). Romano met us a few minutes later and showed us some maps and some great spots for eating/drinking. Very helpful! The apartment itself was decorated so nicely. It really felt like we were at home! Comfy bed, soft pillows, so many clean soft white towels to use! (Too many airbnb's give you one stiff towel for the week... this was a welcome relief!). Also, if anyone is a gardener - you will absolutely LOVE the garden outside the apartment. After a month of travelling and staying in all kinds of airbnb's, we kept saying to ourselves, "we wish every airbnb was like Romano's!!!"
It was a great and very personalize greek experience to stay in Romanos´s studio in the artistic neighbourhood Exarcheia in athen´s heart. It was our first experience in airbnb and really expressed the concept of humanizing travel. Romanos you are more then welcome to come to Lisbon and stay in our house, the best!
