can't wait to visit New York!!
I travelled through Europe back when the internet was still only a new tool for travellers.
Am so amazed by the ease and choice that the internet and social media has opened up...
I have been talking about visiting New York with a friend for a couple of years now, and recently we took the plunge when we saw some cheap flights.
I am heading over with this friend and my sister.
We are all "young" 40 something women, we want to stay somewhere that isn't touristy, we want to experience the local culture and lifestyle.
I am a lapsed photographer but hope to take heaps of photos on my trip, my day job is in book retailing. I am an Assistant category manager for the book section of a major airport retail group. We have stores all over the world, including a Watermark in New York.
I select the art and design books for our stores, and have a very big collection of books myself. Some of my favourite books are Life of Pi, Time Travellers Wife and Gone Girl.
My favourite movies are too many to name, but I am partial to Woody Allen, I loved his NY movies, but am glad that he is now travelling the world setting his movies in all my favourite cities; Rome, Paris, London, Barcelona.
My favourite CD at the moment is by Frank Ocean, and I am a huge Radiohead fan, when I was a teen I loved Duran Duran.
My sister is a graphic designer and my friend is a fashion designer.
So we are all very creative and hope to spend lots of time in the galleries as well as the cafes and boutiques.
When I stayed in Paris in 2003, I house sat for a friend of a friend.... it was a great experience and the owners were so happy, they invited me back. Apparently the appartment was in a better condition than when I first moved in.
I also regularly house sit for friends, I am very house proud and people trust me to take care of their homes when I stay.
