Christina, Thank you again for staying with us for 8 nights. First I would like to apologize if you felt uncomfortable in our home. I am not clear on exactly why you felt unwelcome as we try very hard to share with our guests the amazing amenities of NYC! We both work extremely long hours and although we are not around the apartment much, we do live here full time and prefer to come home to a quiet home. In addition, I am not sure you described your whilst as loud conversation for 45 mins clearly having a loud argument in German with your boyfriend and I was alone 5 feet away, not sure that's being friendly and it made me feel out of place in my own home. We appreciated your gift and I am certain we said our thank you, I am not sure if its European tradition but I was brought up not to open gifts in front of guests. I am also a bit surprised how sensitive you are, I never thought I need a lengthly conversation with our guests on daily basis during their stay. We try very hard to ensure our guests have a great time while they are visiting our great city, perhaps you will feel more comfortable staying in a hotel next time, most of our guests are awesome and we have a great time! Its all a part of Airbnb!
Very sorry that you didn’t speak up, I wish you had mentioned your concerns we would have been happy to accommodate! We have a stock of new shower curtains that we change regularly and would have gladly changed it out had you mentioned it and we have now replaced it(extreme cleanliness is a point of pride with our home). Also we did mention that we both have regular 8:30am-7pm jobs so we do let all our guests know that when they come home to just try to be a little quiet when coming in after 11:00pm. All our past guests are more than happy to keep things down in the common areas after 11:00 on weeknights and we try to return the favor when we leave early for work. Regarding the key it is fairly common that we ask that guests leave the key on the coffee table on the last night of their stay just so they don’t forget it in the morning if we aren’t around for the check-out time(building management charges us 40$ for a replacement access card).
