I'm a 27 year-old Dutch woman from Amsterdam, currently working and living in Ankara, Turkey. I'm a neuropsychologist and I live together with my Turkish boyfriend, who owns his own law practice in Ankara. I have travelled quite a lot, spending time on different continents. I'm very much interested in different cultures, and when I travel I generally prefer to stay in places where you can feel like a local. Space and luxury is not important to me. As long as it's clean enough and the neighbourhood is safe to go out on my own, I'm happy. What activities I like to do depends on the location. If it's a city, I generally like to just go around exploring. Besides seeing the tourist attractions, I like to ask locals to recommend some good places where there are not too many tourists. If I travel for longer and go to more than just a city, I mostly enjoy backpacking without planning ahead. Having the freedom to be spontaneous, to be flexible and let plans be guided by local experiences is important to me when I'm on vacation.
