Easy going welcoming host! I enjoy meeting our guests and am happy to give guidance on where to go and visit.
Swallows rest garden was a lovely aparment set at the top of wicklow town. The views themselves are worth the stay, however, the apartment itself was modern. clean and comfortable. Ian was a gracious and friendly host who picked my girlfriend and I up from the bus stop.
The stay in Wicklow which is the coast south of Dublin suited us perfectly, the apartment was large, clean and lacked for nothing for brilliant stay. Even though it was large it was cosy and warm. Thanks Ian.
Myself and two friends stayed at the Swallows Rest for 2 nights. From the start, Ian and his wife Bernie provided a very warm welcome, firstly Ian offered to collect us from the train station (approx 25 minutes walk). Anyything we wanted or needed, we only had to ask.
Ian and his family live above the apartment, but we really felt that we had space and privacy. They were totally unobtrusive. The apartment was very large, a very big reception room with 2 comfy sofas, tv, cable, wifi etc, with french doors to patio, plus a very large dining table at the rear of the room. There is a separate very good sized and very well equipped kitchen, with a dining area to seat 4. The look, style and quality of the apartment is very good.
The area is very quiet, bordering on the countryside, but you can hear the sound of footsteps from upstairs, so bear in mind if you are sensitive to noise. It's a little hard to find: take St Patricks road from the town centre, follow up for about 15 mins by foot, road will merge with Ballyguile Rd (fork) immediately after, you'll see a small lane way to your right with a series of houses. Notice the b&b right opposite you, Swallows Rest is immediately next door to the right.
Lastly, Ian was flexible about departure time, as he had non-one booked in that day, so we got to enjoy the apartment until 3.30pm on dept day.
Overall a great choice.
Spacious accommodation with all amenities. Ian is an ingratiating host.
This fine apartment exceeded our expectations. Spacious accommodation with lovely glass doors into the west facing garden - great for our visit (July) when we were treated to fine, bright evening sunshine. Ian was the perfect host - jovial (well, after all he's Irish), informative and friendly - we were treated to a lovely bowl of freshly picked redcurrants.
Only a few minor niggles, easily solved, include better directions to Ian's place. Upon arrival we couldn't quite find the right entrance and needed to ask a friendly neighbour.
