I live in Richmond VA, but I am a native Oklahoma girl. We recently purchased a home in the beautiful Outer Banks, my dream of 30 years. My son and I are running the place we call Sea La Vie as a B&B part time and other times the entire place is available for rent. You can save by renting an entire floor. I used to dream of renting one of those giant beautiful houses but my family is small so did not need a big house for a week at the beach. So, I am renting individual rooms or entire floors of our house. I spent 4 years in Hong Kong, Studied special ed at OU and Wilmington College. I worked at VCU med school before moving to Hong Kong . The job market being terrible, my son was unemployed and he and I decided to do this. After all, we have always heard "do something you love" and we love people and love the Outer Banks... So we are giving it a shot... We would love to hear from you. We are filling up quickly so book soon.
We are very casual, get a lot of Med school students from East Carolinia, and grad students as well as outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. People love that you can try kayaks, SUPS, biking and fishing without bringing or renting equipment. Small families who do not need a big house like this arrangment and like renting their own floor.
Five things I can't live without as airbnb has suggested we list: A good book, my cell phone, a current playlist that includes Avett Brothers and Arcade Fire, Mojito ingredients. I guess. Actually, I have lived easily without any of those things but they are things that make me happy.
