I am a free-lance writer and former teacher, and my husband is a public policy consultant. We are semi-retired empty nesters but relatively fit and young at heart, and we are enjoying this season of our lives as a time for travel and new experiences. We live on a ranch on the central California coast, a fact that astonishes me (as a native New Yorker) every day. England has become a part of our personal geography also since our daughter moved there four years ago, and sometimes it serves as a starting point for visiting other parts of Europe. We enjoy hiking and bicycling, in an appropriately middle-aged way, and are firm believers that travel broadens the mind. We tread lightly, try to treat this dear earth gently, and are respectful of other people's spaces. I believe in kindness. And poetry.
