We rented this house to attend a wedding.
The Island Girl was a cute little house located close enough to the beach without being on the beach. Less than 5 minutes to be in the water and 5 minutes to the main center street. While we mostly just enjoyed the beach and wedding activities, I did make a trip down the street for Tokyo Crepes (OMG), Taco Boy (loved the tacos...so good) and Bert's Market to get a smoothie.
There were 5 adults, so we took up all the comfortable beds in the house. The bedrooms and upstairs bathroom were all perfectly sized and greatly enjoyed. The upstairs deck was awesome! The backyard we didn't get to take advantage of due to the flooding, but it looks like a great space normally. Comfortable chairs in the living area provided us with a great space to watch the football game on Saturday. As has been pointed out there are several level changes on the main floor, it's just 1 step and a little slant, but I can see how it may be a little tricky to navigate for some, it was not a problem for us though.
We didn't end up cooking, but all the pots and pans you needed were provided. Coffee maker and filters were there too! I think there was also coffee, but we had brought our own.
We made use of the bikes, boards and chairs provided in the shed (there were also umbrellas), these things made our vacation that much more enjoyable, it was great to have access to those!
Washer and dryer to use was nice as well. There was an iron in one of the closets and some board games as well.
The WiFi did not work for the first part of our visit, but Michael was so awesome and responsive in getting that fixed for us, he went out of his way to get Comcast out to fix it as soon as possible for us, it was truly awesome of him and much appreciated. It should be 100% working now for everyone after us, the last 2 days we had really good strong signal in the whole house! Sorry again for bugging you so much Michael, but the flooding really worried us and I'm glad the little house made it through, their cleaning person did such an amazing job that we couldn't tell 2 days later that the entry had been flooded! Great job guys!
I guess my only complaint is that I don't get to live there! Loved staying there and loved Folly Beach so much, hopefully I get the chance to go here again sometime!
Thank you so much!
We fit six adults comfortably in the beach house for my father's 70th birthday. There is a full, a queen and a king bed with nice linens. Beach towels are provided for everyone, which is so thoughtful. The main bathroom is gorgeous and spacious. The house is tidy and lovely, although it could benefit from a deep cleaning. The kitchen is adequate. Coffee, powdered creamer, sugar and some miscellaneous items were provided. It was great having a washer/dryer to use. You are only three houses down from beach access and a fifteen minute walk to Center St. It was a wonderful location for us. We walked to the Lost Dog Cafe once a day. It's really as good as everyone says! We only had to use our car once for a trip to the grocery store.
There is only a couple potential negatives. The internet did not work at all. This posed a problem for my husband because he was supposed to work remotely during our trip. Also, nearly every room has a level change, varying from a few inch lip or an entire stair so it's not ideal for someone who is unsteady on their feet. We had to mark the stair in the dining area for my aunt because we were afraid she was going to have a fall.
I enjoyed working with Michael. He was very responsive and professional. He sent over all the necessary information in advance of our trip which I really appreciated.
The house was nice and communication with the owners was easy. They had a binder with all local information about Folly and Charleston and they made it very welcoming for our family.
The wireless was very spotty (often didn't work) and the house is dark but it's clean and in a great location and was what we needed as we spent most of the time at the beach and at friends' houses.
For a clean, quiet place to sleep, right by the beach, this is a great option.
Staying at the Island Girl condo was perfect. And Neil and Michael were great to work with. The location is perfect - a short walk to the beach or to the action in downtown Folly Beach - made it a great place to stay. Everyone in our party was more than pleased with the condo! The rooms were good sized. And the shared living space made the condo feel like a home instead of a stuffy hotel. I would highly recommend friends to stay at the Island Girl if they take a trip to Folly Beach. And would definitely consider staying there again should I return. Thanks for a great experience!
The Island Girl is the perfect place to stay on Folly Beach. It was in a great location. It was a short walk to the beach and only a few blocks from downtown Folly restaurants and bars. The beds were super comfortable and they had both bath and beach towels for us to use. Also, the kitchen is stocked with anything you would need-there is a coffee pot, blender, pots, pans, measuring cups, everything! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The house was exactly as described ( I actually think it was even better). The house was clean, it had everything that we needed, it was close to the beach (about a 2 minute walk), close to restaurants and shops. We loved it. I absolutely will be renting this one again.
A great central location for walkability when visiting Folly Beach. Our family of 5 stayed comfortably and enjoyed our time at Folly Beach together. We were able to easily access the beach without having to pay for parking ($20 a day in some spots if you're not lucky to get a $10 a day public beach access spot) because of our location at Island Girl. Having a full laundry set up in the house was extremely helpful since we had our 6 month old son with us. It allowed us to pack only what we needed and could wash a load a day as needed during our week long stay. The kitchen was helpful on the few occasions we decided to make our own breakfasts and quick lunches before heading out to the beach or into Charleston.
Everything was great, house had everything we needed. Really close to the beach. House is very cozy, felt like home. Grill outside was a nice surprise. Hostess was willing to accomodate our change of plans and change dates of our stay which was very nice of her. We had a blast!!
Two friends and I came to Folly Beach/Charleston to enjoy some relaxing down-time together. The house was perfect and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the beach, walking to the lighthouse and walking to the restaurants and shops on Center Street. We had great meals at the Lost Dog Cafe (fabulous shrimp and grits and Grapefruit mimosas) and Taco Boy (tempura avocado taco!!!). Thanks for a super weekend Desiree!!
We stayed at this beautiful house as a family of five (four adults and a baby) I have to say that this was a great find on airbnb, as Folly Beach is a fantastic place to stay. The beach near the lighthouse is a short drive, followed by a short walk and is stunning - and the main beach which is only a block away is lovely too.
The house is very well appointed, roomy and the decor was great (immaculate too, not a fixture broken or a mark on a wall). The neighbourhood felt safe and had a chilled, relaxed atmosphere. The off street parking was good and allowed us to unload the car easily and safely.
The town has a number of great shops aimed at beach life and The Lost Dog Cafe/bar was our favorite place to eat (throughout our entire US trip). Again it was only a short walk from the house and it was recommended to us by the host in the welcome pack.
The welcome pack was informative and contained everything we needed to make our stay a brilliant one.
The house is only a 20 minute drive to Charleston which Conde Nast Travel Magazine voted the best city in America for the fourth year running! (It is awesome)
All in all we could have stayed there much much longer - or even moved in!
