Welcome to Bend, OR. My wife and I and two children 9 and 5 are always looking for a fun adventure in Oregon and anywhere else we can play in the sand, water, snow, or dirt. I am self employed and my wife teaches 2nd grade. We like to travel and make new friends as we go. We have a cat named "Luna." She is pretty friendly and easy to care for if you don't mind or we can take her with us. She just doesn't like dogs.
Our street is located right next to a river trail, about a three minute walk away. The river is majestic and a fabulous way to commune with nature right after you get here. Enjoy the use of our River Canyon Estates club house with a tennis court across the main street. It has a work-out room (tread mill, stationary bike, elliptical stair master, weights and a cable TV). It has a nice bathroom with a shower. During the summer, the clubhouse has a salt-water pool, lounge chairs with a baby pool. Tables are conveniently located within the pool area. You will need a key to enter the clubhouse ammenitities.
We have a neighborhood grocery store CE Lovejoy with very friendly customer service, a two minute drive south of our house with a gourmet pizza shop Local Pizza (reasonably priced), a workout center Snap Fitness, River Rim coffee house (they host local music) . If you need something from a major grocery store, Albertson's is a few minutes more but right across the highway (Expressway). We are about 5 minutes away from Albertson's. Gas stations, Mexican food, Sushi and Papa Murphy's pizza is right next to Albertson's.
The Old Mill is about a five minute drive north of our house. It has an REI and other outdoor retailer store, clothing shops like Banana Republic, GAP, Black and White, etc. Seafood, American, Japanese, Italian, Mexican/Peruvian and Hawaiian food from $ to $$$ fine dining is offered there. As well as the Regal movie theatre with decent selections of new films.
During the late Spring and Summer Les Schwab amphitheatre presents free and paid concerts. Check out the website!
A few minutes from the Old Mill there is Downtown Bend with many restaurants, coffee houses(Starbucks and local-support local!), Townshend's tea house (our favorite), Breweries, wine stores, shoe, swimwear, vintage and local clothing stores. It's really fun to see it all! There is also the Tower Theatre that promotes films and live concerts.
On Third Street, there are many local and nationwide stores including the Bend Outlet shops. (website hidden)
Last but definitely not the least, the surrounding Cascade mountain trails are 10-40 minutes away from us. During the winter, if you want to try snowshoeing, skate skiing or cross country then you can go up the mountain after you get rentals and you'll be in a pristine snow (website hidden). Bachelor and Hoodoo are the local downhill skiing mountains.
In the summer, there are many lakes to choose from. The next time I'm on I'll add more links to specific lake websites.
For now, here is Elk Lake's website. (website hidden)
