In all the times I’ve used Airbnb and other vacation rental services prior to encountering Rami, I’d never had a host misrepresent his offering. Before booking, I emailed Rami that my pregnant wife and I required at least a queen sized bed and that from the photos he had posted, it appeared that he couldn't provide that. Rami wrote in response that what he actually had was a “king sized bed” and that the photos were inaccurate. Having been reassured, we went ahead and booked with Rami. When we arrived, we were shocked to find a twin sized bed. We immediately contacted Rami, who took several hours to respond, assuring us that he had represented himself and his accommodations accurately. He then reiterated multiple times on the phone and in writing that the twin was a King. We escalated to AirBnb and sent their investigative staff the emails from Rami, specifying “a King bed,” along with photos we took of his apartment, clearly showing a twin.I found Rami’s review to be revealing. At the time, it was unclear whether our dispute was due solely to his incompetence (being unaware that the term “King bed” has a rather specific meaning), or whether it was due to outright dishonesty on his part. Given his alarmingly insincere review, I am now satisfied that it was the latter.
