Edward was friendly and efficient and met us several minutes after we arrived. During our stay, the power went out (the breakers had flipped), and Edward resolved the issue remotely within 30 minutes. As for the room, it's small but workable. It has a small closet with cubby holes and room to hang clothes. The room has a small night stand which proved useful. Although there's a TV and cable, the cable only worked if you strategically placed the antenna in the window. Not a big deal given we weren't in NY to watch TV. There is internet, but it's a Clear wireless device running at maybe 2mbps. You may want to use your own LTE hot spot. The bathroom was adequate with great water pressure, but be sure to shower early as I believe the residents of the building share the hot water and it can run out. There's a door to the bedroom but when we arrived the door to the other unit was missing. If this continues to be the case, be aware that you'll here everything the other resident is doing in that part of the unit. Speaking of noise, there is a flight of stairs that exists right on the other side of the wall to the room. You can hear everyone coming in the door and traveling up and down the steps. Luckily activity dies down around 11 so it wasn't too annoying. We were asked to remove our shoes when entering the room as the other occupant's room is directly below the room and he goes to be at 9pm. The location is great, walking to Times Square and the subway are easy. Lots of good, inexpensive food choices close by, and even a full market with healthy, fresh food basically next door. For the price it was a good choice.
A bargain for the lower east side! I wish I'd had more of a chance to check out Alphabet City itself, it looked really cool- loads of cafes and bars etc. Edward was a really good host. Cheers man!
My first experience with airbnb and it couldn't be better. The room is large and the bad is comfortable. Great position and very adorable neighborhood. Edward was very kind and professional. 5 stars!
This is my first airbnb experience and also my first trip to NYC. Edward is a kind, responsble and informative host. The apartment is well located in a safe area and the room is as described with a nice bed, but it is an old building so you can hear people walking into the building and around upstairs. When I come to NYC next time, I absolutely will stay Edward's house again!! Thank you very much, Edward!!
The location is great and the place is as described. Even if Edward wasn't in NYC during my stay there, it was very easy to communicate with him, always super-available if I need something. I met his flatmate Dennis, so kind and helpful. The apartment has all one needs, is the perfect place to crash after long days and nights in NYC. Bike rental, metro, many markets and restaurant nearby.
Thank you so much Edward and Dennis!
This was our first trip to NYC. If you want to stay close to Time's Square this is the place to be. The apartment is located in a safe area with a quick walk to the subway and Time' Square.
Edward was out of town during our stay. He was quick to respond to any emails or texts leading up to our stay and even called day 2 just to check in.
The apartment is exactly as described. It is a very small, old NYC apartment. The bed was comfortable and there was enough space in the closet for our travel backpacks. The cleanliness wasn't hotel quality however we didn't spend much time there so it wasn't an issue for us. It is an old building. So you can hear people walking into the building and around upstairs.
I would stay here again. If you are looking for a safe convenient place to sleep in NYC you should stay here. If you are looking for a luxury place to hang out and spend some time in. I would recommend staying in a hotel.
Edward was on POINT! He was very well prepared and gave me a lot of notice on what to do before my trip. He was kind, very personable, and the place was better than what I imagined! Even though there was one shared bathroom, I honestly had no problem with it at all! (me and my long showers) I never notice when the other tenants were using it, and all of our schedules for some reason offset one another because I honestly never even saw the other tenants! This place is perfect for someone who wants to enjoy the city and rest in the middle of the day because being a tourist can be exhausting. This place is super close to the subway stop, and it's next to a lot of great VEGAN restaurants as well! I love the Lower East Side, and I'm definitely going to try to book this place again if it's available the next time I'm in town. Thank you so much again, Edward!
Excellent location, really nice area, great delis all over. Hand over perfect. I had the apartment to myself, which was an added bonus.
Edward is a great host!! He was so helpful that I had a brilliant time in NY!! His house is located in lower east side area, Where was very cool. There are a lot of bars, groceries, cafe and restaurants. It was also very convenient to get to anywhere. When I come to NY next time, I absolutely will stay Ed's house again!! Thank you very much, Edward!!
Edward and I had a nice chat upon their arrival. We didn't see each other much after that. They left the room spotless and even shared their box of voodoo doughnuts......
Overall, a great, although brief experience!
It was a delight to host Edward. Efficient in communications and respectful of house rule, he left the place neat and clean. Meeting wonderful people like Edward is an invaluable benefit of sharing-economy projects like Airbnb. I will be happy to host Edwaard again.
Edward is great!
In two days' time nearly every pot and pan was used in my kitchen, the toilet was left full, and the dishes had been "sanitized" in the dishwasher. I never thought a 2 day stay could leave so much behind.
Edward was sincerely apologetic and did his best to make amends. Nice guy, great intentions, even wiped down the stove. I would have rather gotten a call asking a few questions than come home to a 2 hour re-cleaning session.
The cutest sweetest guy.....very chill....very yogatastic. Would easily host again.
Edward is an AWESOME HOST! He is so dedicated to making all of his locations comfortable for his guests. He is also VERY familiar with the city (he rides his bike all over it), so he can give travelers great tips on where to go and how to get there. He loves hosting and will do everything he can to make your stay enjoyable.
