I only stayed the one night but was pleased to discover on arrival Sheila's delightful apartment. Everything was as described and the staff at Bali Palms were well-prepared for our arrival and provided excellent service. I can't think of a single improvement, it was perfect. Thanks Sheila! Awesome.
Sheila was an absolutely delightful host. There was a slight miscommunication regarding the driver pickup (not at all Sheila's fault) but she handled it extremely well. I can totally recommend her.
The description of the place is exactly like the actual place. This is a very well positioned villa right opposite to the ocean. The place itself is very quiet and private even though it is next to the restaurant.
Would surely comeback.
Sheila made us feel welcome by answering all our questions and was available whenever we needed her. We could not find any differences betwen the description of the home and reality. the neighbourhood was pleasent. We had a short to no travel for resturaunts, pool or bars. There was a very nice view from the back of the house where we spent alot of time enjoying meals. The back garden was very private. We really appriciated the driver that Sheila recomended to us, really nice and safe driver.
Lovely unit in best possible position. Has private outdoor area. Resort pool is great. Dining area and food is great too. Free access to Shangrila Resort with shuttle bus is a BIG plus. We will stay there again. Can't wait! Want a cheap meal? Try the warung D 5 across the road - best value in town - 2 main courses Bintang and Coke $6 !!! Recommended to us by the locals
Sheila was quick to respond to questions or concerns. When we got to the villa the place smelled of sewage and moth balls, I let Sheila know and she told me to call the front desk of villa, someone came very quickly and poured some stuff down the drain and the smell went away for a little awhile, it still lingered for a couple more days but wasn't as strong. The service at the villa was very good, the food was delicious at the villa, the bed very comfortable, the wifi was slow though, pool was the best in candidasa. Shuttle service was inconsistent.
The back patio with jacuzzi didn't work so well, water was never hot, and if you turned on the jets on high water went everywhere. Inside the apartment we had 2 days we had a huge cockroach visit. But it could of been the same one coming back in. We killed it the second time, and never saw another one.
The beach is 15 mins away and cost 20 USD to get there but the white sands beach is nice. Candidasa as whole was very boring and empty, and restaurants don't ever seem busy which made me worried about eating at any of them. The one busy place called ari's hotdog, 5 mins walk was the only busy place there but the burgers are phenomenal.
Since we don't like snorkling, candidasa really isn't for us for more than 2 or 3 days. Sheila's driver was the most expensive driver I found in all of Bali and we didn't get a good vibe from him and we never used him again.
The Bali Palms Resort and Sheila's unit, Villa Lotus, turned out to be exactly as expected. Jenny and I loved that the villa was well equipped and very comfortable. The position of the villa with respect to the pool, bar, restaurant and cool ocean breezes meant we didn't have to move very far at all.
Dealing with Sheila during the lead up to our stay was easy and very professional.
Candidasa is a pleasant seaside fishing village that has been developed over a few decades to also cater for western tourists. The tourist strip along the waterfront sits on either side of a main road, so traffic is rather heavy yet, it still doesn't seem to have the hustle and bustle of the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area. Once in the resort, it's peaceful and very restful. Plenty of restaurants and warungs to choose from and the food is delicious. People in the area and staff at the resort are welcoming and helpful and love that you choose to stay in their village.
Touring, snorkelling and swimming are just some of the many activities available right on the doorstep or within a few minutes travel.
Summing up, we had a wonderful, restful close to our 2014 Bali holiday. We WILL be back!
Thanks for the feedback Steve we will advise Resort staff to fix xoxo Glad you had an awesome stay - we fell in love with Candi Dasa - hence why we have the unit xoxo
What a nice stay at Bali Palms!! Having a shuttle to traverse candi dasa is very nice to avoid the overly ambitious taxi drivers which unfortunately plague Bali. Great pool at both resorts we had access to.
The house is wonderful, we enjoyed the backyard in particular.
We will definetely reccommend to everyone!
thanks Andrea glad you had a great time xoxo
A truly lovely villa in friendly surroundings.
Thanks so much Mark - we love our slice of paradise xoxo
We know Sheila and her beautiful property through our mutual love of Bali!
When we fancy staying over Candi Dasa way we stay at her place...there is an awesome private courtyard bbq area overlooking the ocean; (peaceful getaway from the hustle bustle of Kuta) an unforgettable stay every time! The best part is that Sheila is great to deal with and planning is always a breeze. I would not hesitate to book again.
