Native Texan writer who's dropped and sold everything in the Lone Star State to travel the country and achieve some self-discovery. I'm embarking on a freewheeling, soul-searching sojourn. I spent a few years after college doing the typical 8-5 desk job grind, constantly wondering what else there was to life. Then I decided to take the plunge and explore the US.
I'm living the question "What would you do and where would you go if you had all the time in the world and no obligations?" I plan to discover my answer to that question as I travel. I'm simultaneously nervous and truly stoked about my journey, and I look forward to meeting new people along the way!
As far as interests go, I'm a lover of good food of all varieties. I grew up in Houston's international food culture, and I'm looking to expand my tastes even further as I travel. Part of my mission is to sample as many new cuisines and dishes as I can. I also enjoy a well crafted espresso or a cocktail. Please let me know if there are any food/drink hot spots that I should know about.
I'm an avid reader, though these days I'm more likely to read an article in the Atlantic than I would a long novel. I can't go anywhere without some good tunes to listen to, typically of the soul, folk, and electronic varieties. I also listen to a lot of NPR and tend to be a bit of a news/politics junkie. I like being informed.
In friends and acquaintances, I'm looking for insightful and stimulating conversations with people who enjoy sharing ideas. I'm an open person who enjoys hearing all sides of any particular issue. I tend to be soft-spoken when I first meet people, but that's usually because I'm focused on listening to what the other person has to say. Also I have a wry and irreverent sense humor despite this somewhat dry self description. Briefcase. Squid.
I'm much more than this description. The gist is that I'm a swell fellow looking for like minded and friendly friends!
