This was my first time in Brooklyn and I enjoyed every moment of it!! Mark is an amazing person first, and host second. He was so accommodating. He had a bottle of delicious wine for us to drink, he even cooked for us!! The place is cute and homie and has a projector with Netflix. The neighbors are sweet and the local restaurant are authentic to Brooklyn, Jamaican, soul food, pizza spots and much more. There like 4 convenient stores, grocery market, hair salons, and so much more. Great place to stay with a great host.

The place is really close to subway which was perfect for us! Pictures are extremely kind but the space is good and affordable for NY. The internet was not working and the key gave us problems at the first downstairs entrance. It was warm and the shower was great! The neighborhood is fine and there's a few delis within walking distance 24 hrs. There is a really old looking deflated couch that wasn't very comfortable at all but the three beds and pull out aren't bad at all. When u first enter the hallway and narrow staircase aren't inviting but the apartment is out together good enough to feel comfortable to rest and hang a bit. Stove and fridge work perfect. Only one smaller room has privacy the other room has two beds in it. Lots of closet space! We will return! Mark was very laid back and brought us extra towels!
We had a wonderful time in Brooklyn over the weekend staying in Mark's pad. Lovely place. We met the One and Only neighbor downstairs, she helps tidy the place up and was such a nice person to talk to. Very accommodating and resourceful when questioned about where to go and... where not to go.
When compared to a hotel, well you just can't. It's a home and it felt like it but far more affordable than a NY hotel, guaranteed. Well, at least one I'd stay in.
This place is truly an authenticate Brooklyn / Bed-Stuy apartment in every sense. From the countless corner bodegas to tiny restaurants to whatever all within walking distance. All nestled next to this historic 100+ year old apartment.
Best of all, it's literally a 2 minute walk to the subway, and a 20 minute ride to Manhattan.
We loved the TV, Samsung SMART projector TV posts Netflix in high def right on the wall, loved it.
Found parking literally across and down a side street for free, never worried about my car for a minute, I could see if from the bedroom window.
Lastly, the bed was extremely comfortable. It helped drown out the noise from the busy Brooklyn streets. Thanks Mark!!! We will return this coming fall, hope your place will be available then.
Mark was very accessible and accommodated us as best he could. Overall good experience and enjoyable stay!
We texted the host multiple time en route to tell him what time we were arriving (12:30 AM). When we got there, Mark said that he was running late. We were parked directly in front of the building, watching the door. Mark kept us waiting 45 minutes, at which time he walked OUT OF THE DOOR to the apartment. He'd been inside the whole time. Then he said, "It's late. I hope we don't have any arguments." Then he stopped my kids and me on the sidewalk AT 1:15 AM IN BED STUY and said, "Be polite, or I won't let you in the apartment." My husband told him to open the apartment. Then Mark futzed around in his bedroom for 5 minutes, and finally left. My husband went outside to get our bags and MARK WAS WAITING FOR HIM. Mark tried to start an argument. He stood around eating candy and criticized everything from how my husband was unloading the bags to the likelihood of our being confused by the locks on the doors. Finally left. He also texted me several times "accidentally" with the name of his girlfriend. We told a couple of people in the neighborhood where we were staying, and apparently Mark has quite a reputation as a general pain. Also, I'm not saying that these pictures are a complete lie, but pictures vs. real apartment is like Pinterest vs. Pinterest fail. There is crappy weird DIY paint on everything and also the bedroom doesn't have a door. We paid $700 for three nights to sleep in a crappy apartment and get harrassed by a weirdo.
Mark was a great host that went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The apartment was sufficiently spacious for 8 people and very creatively decorated. I would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at Mark's Airbnb. It has everything we were seeking: size (5 times as big as a hotel room) easy train access, comfortable beds, and ample kitchen and dining rooms. It's also very stylish and sharp, and tastefully decorated. Apparently, Mark is a professional designer/decorator (the pics don't lie). Most importantly, the apartment is super clean and cosy. I highly recommend this apartment for a comfortable and convenient stay in New York!
Mark is a great guest. He treated our place as if it were his own. He is welcome to stay anytime!
We really enjoyed having Mark as a guest. He is a very friendly guy, and he really appreciated our home. So much, in fact, that he plans to return on business soon!
I worked with Mark for several years when we were both teaching on the Navajo Reservation. He was an extremely hard working person in the classroom and he really cared deeply about the kids. As a filmmaker, he had a knack for design, and later became a professional stager. He really knows how to make a home look great, and to make a home feel comfortable and cozy. I have visited him several times in NYC, and he is an unbelievable host. He is super accommodating and thoughtful and meticulously clean. Mark impeccably trustworthy, and his standards are very high. I am confident that he will provide extraordinary accommodations as an Airbnb Host.
