Our stay at the Barn was such a delightful experience! A beautiful space with gorgeous wood floors and filled with natural light. Elizabeth was so flexible with our travel arrangements, and kindly met us in person when we arrived. In addition to a warm welcome, we were met by a host of treats in the form of wine, fresh eggs, orange juice, bread, cheese, coffee and warm from the oven coffee cake. We cannot recommend Elizabeth, her family, and the Barn more highly,
A warm welcome in a magical setting. Elizabeth and her family were wonderful. We found freshly made apple pandowy in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer, making a lovely desert after dinner in Middlebury. Elizabeth also left us delicious apples, bananas, granola, cheeses and breads along with eggs, milk, tea, coffee, and fresh orange juice. The kitchen was well stocked (dishes, cutlery, coffee pot, tea kettle, etc.) and the linens clean and cozy.
The barn was easy to find from the road, as I had studied some maps and images of the area before heading out. We were coming from Chicago and were unacquainted with the area, so were a little worried about finding the rental. But, when we arrived, Elizabeth greeted us warmly, along with her sweet cat and dog. We loved, so loved the kitchen area, and the generous food you baked and provided for us during our stay really enriched our experience. It was more than kind, it was exceptional. If you find yourself in this part of the world, we highly recommend considering this rental for your stay.
We had an awesome stay at The Barn! We didn't get in until about 1am, but Elizabeth made sure that there was a light on so we could find our way in easily. The place was spotless, with no shortage of heaters and blankets to keep us warm, late September weather being what it is. We were welcomed with fresh bread, cheese, and some essentials in the fridge, and woke up to a fresh loaf of bread on the doorstep on the first morning.
Elizabeth, Harriett, and Andrew made us feel so welcome. The converted barn apartment is beautiful! A peaceful setting in the country. They left us delicious food for breakfast, wine, and even fresh baked coffee cake. We will definitely book with them again.
Our stay with Elizabeth at her family's 'Barn Apt' was wonderful! The apartment is clean and comfortable and our stay was made even better by Elizabeth's daughter, Harriet, who made us fresh home-made 'hot from the oven' sour cream coffee cake and left us all kinds of delicious treats in the refrigerator (OJ, milk, bread, homemade jam, eggs, wine and cheese -- among other things). The farm is just a short drive from Middlebury (where we were visiting our daughter at college) and is a beautiful country escape easy to get to during spring, summer and fall. Heavy snow may require a 4 wheel drive vehicle, but Elizabeth may not make it available during winter months. I highly recommend staying here while in the area and enjoy the real 'country' settingsurrounding Middlebury, Vermont!
What a beautiful spot!
Elizabeth was a wonderful host, and apparently my wife and I were her first guests. I would never have guessed this, based on the welcoming and professional setup of the space.
On the coffee table, Elizabeth left a history of Cornwall and its homes, bookmarked at Bingham Farm. A nice info sheet with recommendations for walking, restaurants, and details of the apartment was very helpful. We were also surprised to find tea, coffee and a few goodies in the refrigerator for a simple breakfast.
This short stay was a great introduction to Vermont, and I hope to come back soon.
It was wonderful hosting Elizabeth! She was quiet, clean, respectful, and very easy to talk to. She gets my highest recommendation!
Hats off to Elizabeth for enduring what was probably our most difficult booking glitch ever - due to date re-arranging. And to Harriet for driving the whole way from Vermont in the nasty pre-holiday traffic and weather mess. So glad that they endured both situations and spent a brief time with us. Hope they head back this way again - welcome anytime.
The second time was the same thing very nice!
Elizabeth and their son and dauther is a very nice family, so kind, respectfull, we love have them in our home, like a family. Very beautifull family. Their kids so sweet like her.
It was a delight to have Elizabeth & her daughter Harriet in our home. I also had the pleasure of meeting her son who is living here in Park City. They were very interesting and easy to be with. I truly appreciated her concern and assistance in picking up some eye medications when I couldn't see to drive. They were very respectful of our home and sweet to our dogs. It would be a pleasure to host them again.
Elizabeth and her kids were thoughtful, pleasant guests. They were quiet and respectful, they enjoyed playing with our son, and they were fun to talk to. They also brought us maple syrup... yum!
