This is a great basic place to stay while in Portland. It is a a 20-25 minute walk into the central city or a short 6-8 dollar cab ride. Cabs can be found just down the hill at the old Greyhound Station. My brother and I stayed and it was great for two people, or for a couple and a single. Four could stay if they got along okay.
Overall the apartment is pleasant, clean, and well maintained .The place is a bit older but everything works as expected. The water flows strongly and is hot. The kitchen in nicely appointed with a new fridge. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There were good towels and tourist info provided as well as basic kitchen provisions (coffee, sugar etc).
Chaning was very helpful on arrival and was nearby if needed. Overall, this was a good place to stay and a decent value. Portland Hotels are way overpriced. Thanks for a great stay.
Chaning's accommodations suited our needs perfectly. The location was great. My brother and his family were staying at a nearby hotel
which was just around the corner from us. There was a Denny's that was just across the street which suited both night owls and early birds in my family. There was a church within easy walking distance and also a shopping center with a drug store and an auto parts store. There was plenty of parking. The place was clean and comfortable and we were quite happy to have stayed there.
Clean, spacious apartment within walking distance to downtown Portland. Great place to stay for a weekend in Portland!
This review will perhaps be somewhat unusual. My girlfriend and I visited Portland, ME for a vacation weekend. We brought the dog.
The apartment is clean and functional, renovated, but not fancy. The location is a bit of a compromise - a bit of a walk to the interesting parts (Old Port and Downtown). The neighborhood has a noticeable though not intimidating edge to it. I might look for something with a slightly better location and perhaps a bit more interior sophistication next time. But, it certainly meets the requirement for clean, comfortable, equipped, reasonably accommodating. To me, this is 3 stars. [4 stars and higher is a "wow" experience.]
As I mentioned, we brought our dog. Chaning runs a dog boarding business next door. We boarded the dog with her on Friday morning. By Saturday late morning, she'd lost track of the dog... (as in "I don't know where your dog is...") and we're from out of state (NY). To be fair, I don't know how this happened. And at present, that's not terribly important to me.
But I would counsel... leave the dog home if you're planning to stay here. Bluntly, Dinky Dogs ((website hidden)) is not adequately equipped (or staffed) for boarding or sitting dogs safely. Moreover, it's location is immediately adjacent to at least two major thoroughfares. [We were freaked as our imagination ran wild with what might have happened to our dog.]
To Portland's credit, however, between kind street folk and the Animal Refuge League, we got the dog back. We did however relocate for the balance of our stay. [It wasn't the apartment's fault, but we just couldn't stay after the experience.]
Chaning is a nice and accommodating host. We really enjoyed our stay at her place. The apartment was clean, comfortable, very large and well-stocked with bath linens, plates, glasses, and kitchen utensils and cooking tools. The apartment was not as centrally located as I thought it would be, but it seemed that there were a few cute cafes and bars within a half-mile radius. The downtown and the Old Port were a short drive away, though I imagine it would also be easily accessible by bike. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I'm in Portland!
Chaning was a great host and the space is really cute. It's not quite downtown Portland but it's really close to the highway which is great for day trips to Higgins Beach, Old Orchard Beach, Freeport, etc etc. My best airbnb stay so far.
Chaning has a very comfortable apartment and was a very accommodating host. The apartment is about a 25min walk to the Old Port, and even less to the downtown district. We liked not being in the downtown area but having easy access to it.
A nice find in Portland.
This was a perfect apartment for a long weekend in Portland. The apartment is private, quiet, and clean. It is simply furnished and decorated, and conveniently located to downtown. Chaning is very quick to respond to emails and text messages.
Chaning was very accomodating. The space is easily accessible from the highway, close to downtown, and clean. Parking was not an issue. Thanks Chaning!
