Started making travel part of my life while simultaneously getting ready to downsize and spend 90 days in Spain, part of it walking the Camino. First lengthy road trip was 8 weeks between home and my sisters wedding in Alexandria, VA over the Fall of 2013. Stopping at National Wildlife Refuges and National Parks for bird watching, walking, and taking photos with my iPhone kept me from spending too much time behind the wheel. I was incredibly happy to be driving a hybrid Insight and recently added a bike rack to increase my options for getting around.
I'm a big fan of live music and hope to make music festivals part of future travel, interspersed with getting to know parts of this country, meeting interesting people, contemplating my next adventure overseas. If I do buy a sweet little home somewhere I will probably become an Airbnb host as well.
When I come visiting you, let's share recommendations for books, movies, music, and food. I'm about to start the Longmire mysteries after watching all the available episodes on Netflix, love indie films like "Boyhood" and "Redwood Highway," am currently exploring the acoustic folk music scene, after being a regular at our Waterfront Blues Festival for the last ten years. I love discovering the regional food wherever I go.
Since I travel in a hatchback I generally bring more stuff than I need but can easily limit my carry-in essentials to a canvas tote bag and my laptop when simplicity works best. During good weather I am prepared to camp out if the opportunity arises but most often I enjoy a cosy bed and a morning shower.
