Homeowner in Charlottesville for over 20 years, I love this city and can offer guests suggestions as to hiking, dining, night spots, cultural events, etc. Love hosting guests in the cottage, and learning about what brings people to our little city!

I can well imagine to stay in the cottage again, should I come to Charlottesville again.
We were thoroughly enchanted with the Acorn cottage. It is as charming and comfortable as it looks in the photos but even more so when are there. The cottage is so nicely appointed w some really nice amenities like the cozy fireplace and the soaking tub. The decor is lovely and when you take in the views of a big bamboo grove with birds flitting through greenery you almost imagine you are in an exotic place. There were interesting books sitting next to an eclectic array of prints and decor. We liked the idea of a small space so well set up that we are thinking the design and layout would be a perfect guest house size to build near a main house sometime.
Carla was delightful and accompanied by her adorable little son John Carlo who came to greet us beaming in his little bow tie. The only downside was being so busy we didn't get much chance to chat but Carla was always in easy reach via cell phone.
We were there in the winter for an NCAA game at the UVA arena on the occasion of the largest snowfall of the year. Carla was very kind and offered to give us extra time in the cottage if we needed to wait for better road conditions on our checkout day. We so thoroughly loved our weekend that we are going to plan a spring weekend at the Acorn in a few weeks.
You won't go wrong in staying here for so many reasons. The location so close to West Main and all the shopping and restaurants is great, not to mention convenient to the free trolley. Truly wonderful! Thank you so much Carla!
We had a wonderful visit! Carla wrote very helpful emails prior to our arrival and was totally available for anything that we needed during our stay. The place was perfect for what we wanted - which was a restful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC. I would definitely go back!
We had a great stay at Carla's cottage in Charlottesville. The cottage is very private, spacious and comfortable. Both my wife and I remarked how much happier we were there than at a hotel.
Carla was very gracious and provided thoughtful details like coffee, creamer and shampoo. We would definitely consider a stay here again. Don't be put off by the neighborhood! The location is super convenient to downtown Charlottesville and delicious restaurants. Thanks for a great weekend Carla!
Carla met us at a time convenient for us, showed us how the cottage worked, and made us feel completely at home. The cottage is attractive, spacious, and very clean. The kitchen is in great working order and Carla stocked the coffeemaker with medium as well as dark roast coffee. The neighborhood is fun to walk round in, with a fascinating melange of architecture, and it's just a few minute walk from downtown.
I went on a little post-Chrhistmas retreat to Charlottesville and couldn't have been happier with the experience at the Acorn Cottage. I came via Amtrak and the house is less than a 10 minute walk from the station. It's as fresh, bright, and cozy as it looks in the photos. Among my favorite things were the outrageously comfortable bed, the Keurig coffeemaker (plus creamer and sugar!), and the gas fireplace. I was there during some chilly, drizzly weather and the fireplace warmed up the whole place beautifully. Acorn Cottage is walking distance to several good restaurants and a very easy walk to the downtown pedestrian mall, which has some shopping and more restaurants, yet it's incredibly quiet and almost feels like a little cabin in the woods at night. For me, it was the perfect retreat for reading, writing, and relaxing. Carla couldn't have been sweeter or more accommodating. She provided a great array of little brochures, magazine, and info about the town. I look forward to coming back with my husband soon to do more exploring.
Loved our brief stay in the Acorn Cottage. Communication with Carla was prompt and very pleasant-- although we didn't require any assistance with getting around town, it's clear she would have made herself available to answer any questions we might have and/or to provide recommendations. The cottage was so comfortable and no detail is overlooked, from the soft bedding, to various temperature controls, to a handy guide that provided us useful information on some of the amenities. We had planned to explore Charlottesville nightlife but opted for a lovely, lowkey night reading by the fire instead after a full afternoon touring wineries. We plan on returning in the warmer months so we can make use of those decks. Thanks for everything, Carla!
Carla was as helpful as could be and provided everything that was promised by the property description as listed on the site.
The little cottage was perfect for a christmas break.
Quiet and private for evenings in relaxing or near enough to all the main attractions in and around Charlottesville to allow busier days when required.
We would have no hesitations staying again if we were to visit Charlottesville in the future.
Thanks again Carla.
Carla was a wonderful and gracious host and the Acorn Cottage was absolutely perfect for our little Thanksgiving trip! We were able to cook the holiday dinner in the cottage, which is well stocked with kitchen tools. The whole cottage was clean, cozy, and so comfortable! We didn't want to leave. Thank you Carla for a great first experience with airbnb!
Carla is a great host. We were traveling a long distance and had just a general estimate of our arrival time. She communicated frequently and we all managed to get to her house about the same time. She gave very detailed information about the cottage and provided a more detailed sheet with information. The cottage is very comfortable and laid out well. Carla gave us several recommendations for restaurants and all were excellent. We enjoyed our visit to Charlottesville and staying in the Acorn Cottage was a big reason. We could walk to the town and to UVA. Monticello is a short drive away, and the Blue Ridge parkway is an easy trip for the cottage. Skyline Parkway was closed due to snow so we'll have to come back another time. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay.
