I am from St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. I am 67 years young and in very good health and expect to travel for many years to come. My environmental interests are birding and exploring new places and I have travelled to New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico and much of the U.S. I am currently beginning a 'big year of birding' (there was a movie about this hobby activity lately starring Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson) which involves trying to find and record as many species in a calendar year in North America as possible. Although the existing records are over 700 species, I hope to get a more modest 400 and with luck may reach 500. I have limits to my budget. My future trips will be with my wife who also enjoys the out-of-doors. I am now retired but previously was an environmental educator and national program developer and I authored in a few books. My interests include photography and recently I have taken up some painting (the picture shown here is from the California Coast Highway) but for the rest of 2013 I am concentrating on my birding passion.
