We're a 30-something, outgoing couple that loves to travel. We went to Turkey for 2 spectacular weeks in 2010 and had a great time walking all over Istanbul, visiting tiny towns along the western coast, and taking a boat trip to swimming spots with some locals. We stayed in a lovely studio apartment we found on airbnb in the heart of the Beyoglu neighborhood in Istanbul. We befriended the owner of the apartment, who took us out for drinks one evening, and now we're airbnb converts!
Galen travels to SF for work every 2-3 months. On those trips he's typically busy all day and heads down on work. Quiet, out of the way and clean.
We love trying local cuisine, meeting new friends, and walking everywhere. We like a mix of relaxation and sightseeing when we're in a new place. We like both city and country environments. We're definitely not into resort travel or cruises--our main goal is always to get a taste of the local culture and experience what it's like to live in a place. We tend to travel to places where we have friends, but now we'd like to branch out and meet new people around the world.
We had to take some time off international travel for the past year and half, but we're currently planning on the following trips: Mexico City (March 2012), Sao Paulo (June 2012), Montenegro and Kosovo (Sept. 2012), Southeast Asia (probably 2013), Caribbean Islands (2014?).
