This is a unique stay option with significant character for people who appreciate nature and getting away from a city or town environment. In fact, you are on the fringe of wilderness here, so be prepared to enjoy the sights, smells, sounds of a rural corridor of human and natural activity in the immediate area. The drives I took on sideroads were truly memorable, the waters, wetlands and mountain streams, awe-inspiring, such a feel of history as you drive along the old roads. The property itself is a dream. A property that shows the sweat and soul of the owners in all its multitude of functions past and present. And the animals that roam around and in their own time welcome you into their fold is a pleasant, harmonious experience for the urban dweller with no constant connection to the land like there is here. But by coming here, it is medicine for the soul and even a drop means a life improved. Funny how my troubles seemed diminished from the short time between my arrival and my departure. The cabin, sure it's rustic, but most every need is met and the set-up has its basic comforts. So nice to have that shower at the house to keep you feeling respectable, so thanks for that. Wise to bring your sleeping bag as added insulation from those cold and rainy nights like the ones when I was there. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, it was an honestly heartwarming gift to have these folks share their beautiful property with a stranger who just wants a little fresh air and beautiful scenery to enjoy. Ray gave a warm welcome and checked in on me the next day to ensure I had enough blankets, that seriously was much appreciated because yes, those nights were a bit of a hit and miss on sleep. Ray also was understanding about my precarious arrival and saw fit to flip the first night I missed with a second night on the long weekend. Just an added worry I didn't need so thanks Ray. I genuinely appreciated the canine company during that weekend and thoroughly enjoyed taking a solid walk with them through the forest before I even knew their names, we just went. Mocha stayed by my side or at the cabin a lot and she and Clover must have known I needed the company and I very much cherished sitting and enjoying them visiting with me so much. The horses were very nice personalities and the goat, well, he was truly amusing, wow, such a vocal guy, he was really upset when I stopped feeding him grass! I enjoyed picking mushrooms the next day at the municipal park next to Fraser River and the gift store at the McBride train station where I indulged in a couple of local author's books and where the young girl served a wonderful Latte to ward off the rainy weather chill. I sure hope to come back one day. Thanks for everything....
The cabin & view were beautiful, and Bridget & her family were very welcoming and easy going! A great getaway :)
Bridget and her husband are great hosts. We loved our stay, their beautiful cabin and the nice talks with them. Will definitely come back if in McBride area again :-)
Thanks for all!
Bridget was not there, but Tim and his wife and their two beautiful children made us feel very at home. We could take a shower at their home and ask any question we had. Very nice people. The first evening Susan offered us a home made bread, which was so good!
The cabin, the location and Bridget all exceeded our expectations. The cabin was very clean and welcoming, and nothing can beat the view of the mountains while sitting on the front deck in the morning. Bridget was a fantastic host. She was very helpful in choosing trails and sites to see. I don't think I can emphasize enough how nice and welcoming she made us feel, while still giving us all the privacy we wanted. Her daughter and husband were also great! And all the animals were very friendly. We were very happy to have chosen Bridget's place for our visit to the Rockies, and would highly recommend it!
Staying at Bridget's cabin was an *amazing* experience. It was peaceful, quiet, and had all the basics you need to get by.
- The cabin is situated on a nice farm about 10 minutes from the main town, so it's absolutely quiet! Perfect for a good night's sleep, or just getting away from it all
- Breathtaking views of the nearby mountains, and just a 10-minute drive to some amazing hikes nearby
- The family! I got the chance to hang out with them a few times during my stay, and everyone is *so* nice. You have your own space in the cabin anytime you want it, and fun new friends when you want that!
- 2 super cute and friendly dogs
- Bridget was even nice enough to make coffee and muffins both mornings I was there. Yum!
- I hit my head on the cabin door one morning, but that's my fault for being 6'2" and not paying attention :)
In other words, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend it for anyone passing through BC or just looking for a great getaway.
Thanks Bridget for the great time in McBride!
What a fantastic little cabin right in the heart of the mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bridgit and Ray's outer cabin and would highly recommend this to anyone. We spent our evenings sitting out on the porch with a hot drink in hand, watching the sun disappear behind the mountains.
A beautiful cabin a few hours from jasper and close to McBride. There are horses, goats, dogs and a llama on the property - all very friendly. Bridget is a great host as well!
Great cabin experience for an even better price! This cabin is in a fantastic location for any travellers looking to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. We were looking to escape from the busy city life, so we really enjoyed the simplistic, peaceful and cozy nature of the cabin. Bridget and her husband were incredible hosts- making sure we felt "at home," providing information regarding hiking trails and offering delicious baked goods each morning! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back in the future.
Delightful couple. It was a genuine joy hosting them--bright, friendly, thoughtful. Couldn't have been better !
