Profession: Behavioral Scientist in interdisciplinary studies focusing on the effect of spirituality on positive growth following illness, in experiences of chronic illness, and the role of spirit in palliative care.
Avocation: music, literature, friends, fly fishing, skiing, floating rivers, dogs, travel, djembe drumming, knitting, navel gazing, wasting time, loving life. I also like art galleries and the theater.
An urban girl living in the country. Trying to find a way to keep the best of both worlds. I need to be out in nature to feed my soul but I also like to spice up my life with a little bit of city time. I love good food and good restaurants, beautifully made clothing, and interesting perfume. I also adore furry and hairy animals.
Favorite travel destinations: France, Scotland, England, DC, NYC, San Francisco, Austin. My preferred way to travel is to savor the destination, spend time with the people, find out about their opinions and culture. I emphatically do not like rushing around checking off the "sights" from some list. I would rather see less but experience more.
I do not have a motto but it is important to me to live with integrity and with the elements of my life in balance, to celebrate each day, to be filled with gratitude and joy, and to share my experiences with close friends and loved ones.
Things I can't live without: my husband, my pets, music, being able to get out into wilderness, exposure to new ideas and information. I read a wide variety of both fiction and nonfiction, but for relaxation I read mystery novels and watch detective shows. I do not like psychological dramas. I like a very wide variety of music and take delight in finding new artists and bands.
I am a considerate guest. I keep my room orderly and try not to leave piles of things lying around. I try not to intrude upon my hosts and to give them privacy and I like to have privacy as well.
